How long can the Disney website be down?

I am finally back in on web site (using Firefox) - kept getting Stitch on selecting various menu items from top right (which normally invokes the login if not logged in), but then going to the sign in link on top center did work and then the other options worked.

I remember reading about it a couple years ago in the news. One of the more controversial aspects was that affected staff wouldn't get their severance unless they agreed to train their replacements. Many of them sued the company, but (and this is news to me when I quickly googled just now) were ultimately unsuccessful.

Note- the articles touch on some political debate that Disney was dragged into as a result of this episode, but it's not my intention to turn this into a political discussion.

Edit- another article from 2 months ago, less political: http://www.mysuncoast.com/news/form...cle_06ee7014-53ee-11e8-acb3-5b46bdd5b960.html

I'll have to admit, that was a pretty creative way to sue, on the lawyers' part... to claim that the replacement workers were all of a certain race. It kind of makes sense that it didn't work though. Thanks for digging those up!

The challenge I have is that people assume that Disney doesn't invest money into its IT infrastructure or that the many Americans who still work at Disney are among the lower quality IT workers. People who have knowledge of IT see the wonder and ambition of what Disney has undertaken with the billion dollar investment in MDE infrastructure. Given how ambitious it is, I certainly understand that it will have its hiccups. That is, of course, unacceptable from a guest perspective because it can really create problems when days like yesterday happen. But it doesn't mean that some incredibly smart and creative people aren't working in the IT space there, or that they haven't put a ton of money into this system. It just means that perhaps what they've built is so ambitious and challenging, that it's a little scary how complex it is and sometimes even good people fail. (Even my time taxing the system with "refresh" FP strategy illustrated just how heavy a transaction load it is carrying.)

Either way, Disney is still responsible for delivering on the guest promise. I just want to say that if they fail to meet the challenges sometimes, it's not because they didn't dream big enough or sink a billion dollars into it.

Now that MDX, DLR, DCL, and Hub access for CMs are up and running, closing.
