How long can I park with a dining reservation?

What is the time limit to use that parking spot while dining at a Disney resort when you have a dining reservation?

I'm not sure what the official policy is but we were told 2 hours by security at Beach Club for a reservation we had on 2/13. Security at Wilderness Lodge made no such statement a few days later. Perhaps Beach Club only mentioned it due to it being a Holiday weekend.

In my experience we have never been given a time we needed to leave by. We've gone to Chef Mickey's for dinner and gone to late night MK's in the past after and just stayed parked at the Contemporary. So long as it isn't a holiday or other event that would mean heavy traffic through the hotel I can't see them being too strict with this.

There's already a problem at the Contemporary caused by people going to CM breakfast and then parking there until the fireworks are over 12 hours later, and a similar problem over at Boardwalk/BC/YC with people doing the same thing with Trattoria/CMC breakfast and Epcot. More guests driving next year due to the elimination of DME will make the situation worse, and Disney will undoubtedly have to do something about it.

I've always heard 3 hours and have been told that specific timeframe by some guards in the past, but we there a couple of weeks ago and weren't given any limits for the resort meals where we drove. The only special instructions we got were at the Contemporary, and I was told to park in a specific area because they had an event going on that day. I would have loved to park there all day because it's a pain to drive back through the MK entrance and park at the TTC...especially since 7am traffic and 8:30 am traffic going into the park entrance is vastly different. Still, we did it...because my luck I'll get towed.

While you are dining. Once you leave the resort (and you aren't a guest of the resort), you are supposed to move your car. Since there is currently no valet parking, you can't use that to beat the limit.
