becomes your body's standard weight? Often referred to as "happy weight." The weight your body is content being.

We have all had the experience of losing weight and then gaining it back and then some even though we are not being "bad." Just less active and not watching calories as much. How long does it take for your body to recognize the new weight as the happy weight? 1 year, 2, 5?

I asked that question and the answer I found is:

"Once successful maintainers have maintained a weight loss for 2-5 years, the chances of longer-term success greatly increase."

The way I understand, it is never over. After you have reached goal the lifestyle change must be monitored constantly to avoid risks of going back. For me, it is like I am always having to check since I am aging and my body is deciding to retain weight as the years increase. I think as time goes, it does become easier since we know better.

ugh! maintainence is hard! i've put 5 lbs back on after a vacation and i'm struggling to get motivation to take it back off! don't take that the wrong way....it's very very hard to get to a 'happy weight' and i have never maintained over 2 yrs. it's a way of life, just as we all say, huh?
