I was wondering how long it will take for VCG to sell out. I still haven't seen an official points chart.

I'm trying to decide if I should jump on it right away or wait until we visit DL in March....

My guide thinks it will sell out before it gets to open to the public....

Did you buy from a CA guide to get in on the founding member program? If not, you would not be able to purchase until March 26th.

That's very interesting! Is your guide in California or Florida?

My guide in Florida thinks that it won't sell out by March 25th. I am worried that it will and that I won't get the points that I want!

Yes--we were in CA in OCT, so I paid them a visit and had them write up the BLT paperwork. :) They originally had a limit of 160 VCG points (on the founding member paperwork), but I've been told since that the limit has been increased to 500 points.

It was the guide from CA.

It will open up to all other DVC members on MAR 25th, I don't know when it opens to the public. I'm thinking there will still be points for other DVC members...

dvcnews.com got a advance copy of the point chart. It seems as if you are going to purchase either way. If that's the case, might as well do it sooner and not take the chance.

I'm thinking if they raised the points to 500 for founding members Disney is worried about how many will actually sell. I think good news for the rest of us wanting to buy....

After looking at the points chart for weekends, I'm not sure I really want to purchase anymore. Thinking of gambling that it will be available at 7 months on the weekends. Hard to decide.

I predict that will over 1,000,000 points to sell, there will still be points avaliable on March 26th and beyond.

I highly doubt that the existing DVC members will sell out the VGC before it goes on sale to the general public. I could be wrong but thats alot of money coming from members who have spent the bulk of their money on other resorts. To me the real question is how long will it take to sell out once sales start with the general public. I would guess 6 months to a year.

Almost impossible. If Disney was selling nothing but VGC, it would take then about 3 months to sell the million+ points of VGC. Considering that they are selling at 2 other (soon to be 3 other) resorts and can only sell VGC as add-ons to a small set of existing owners for the next two points, I'd say there is no chanced of a sellout by March 26.

Ah, the voice of reason. That is a very good point that I'd not thought about: folks who have founding member status had to have purchased at least 100-160 other DVC points (whatever qualified as a master contract) within the past 24 months. This factor truly has a bearing on how many points we will buy because we have just paid off our BLT (and I had quite a bit of time to save for it).
On one hand I have anticipated the announcement of VCG going on sale, but on the other hand I wouldn't mind having a little more time ....part of my quandry.

You guys are making me feel better about waiting a little. :thumbsup2 That's exactly the kind of information I need.

I bought in at 100 points at AKV just to get Founding member status. I figured the "extra" 100 points at AKV (my fav WDW resort) certainly couldn't hurt to have. But I was gambling that it wouldn't go to the public and that if it did I might still not be able to get on the list to buy points in time. With the economy as it is I lost that bet. I do wish I had that AKV money to use for VGC. But luckily for me I was mentally prepared for this possibility and thus it isn't a huge bummer either - I'll certainly enjoy the AKV points but my ultimate economy in using DVC won't be as great as it would have been had I bought in directly into VGC from the start.

We are still pondering exactly how many points to buy and even whether to buy an additional 100 point contract as an "investment." That's something I would never do for any other DVC property besides *maybe* the Beach Club villas.

At this point I do think VGC will make it to the general public - esp if the pubic can start buying on March 26th along with the existing members. If a lot of law firms and other entities buy large contracts though then it might go fast at that point.

I really love the floor plan in the AKV and I was very tempted to do a small add on. I love the CL option, the 2Bath in a 1BR option and the value points. AKV has a lot going for it. The only reason I held out was I thought BLT would be coming on line (and I had been watching them build it for quite a while). CR was the first resort we ever stayed at--This is no lie, on our first visit, I wished I could figure out a way to afford to stay there even after we are retired. (That was the most effective wishing I've ever done. :) ) So, you can see I had to buy BLT. :)

The tricky thing about VGC is it is the only DVC at DL. We are going to have to get enough for a 5 might stay because we won't have another DVC home resort to stay at (like at WDW)

I thought that other DVC members would have a crack at it before it was going to be offered to the public?
