How long before the MK 'change' from Halloween to Christmas?

Is it fair to assume all the Halloween decorations are gone by November 1st?

How soon thereafter do they start 'icing' up the castle and going into Christmas mode? Edited to add: When do they turn the 'icing' on?

How crazy busy are the parks ON Halloween Day and at the MNSSHP on 10/31?

Is it possible during a 9 day stay that we can get the MNSSHP party in AND see the Christmas decorations/icing of the castle?

1. Assuming there isn't a MNSSHP on the 1st, they should be.

2. The lights actually get put up in September (or possibly August), but as soon as the last Halloween party ends, they'll start putting up the Christmas decorations in MK.

3. I wouldn't expect the parks to be any busier than any other day that time of year since Halloween isn't a holiday in the sense that people get off from work or school, but the MNSSHP always sells out for Halloween itself (and has already sold out for this year).

4. Sure.

They will start almost immediately after the last MNSSHP, but you may not see everything right away. Many people love to go at that time of year to see both the fall and Christmas decorations in one trip.

The castle is generally setup before MNSSHP ends and they just start using the lights after halloween.. that's assuming they do somethign with it this year, I know the crane is up but it seems like painting and I don't really see any lights that aren't in use (but haven't been there in a week or two to look).

Thank you!! At the risk of kicking myself for asking (because I've answered with the same 'unpredictable' way), how is the weather that time of year? Pools still able to be used *I know they're heated, but we don't want to be in water when its 'cooler' outside.

Its still pretty hot, but not quite face-of-the-sun hot anymore. As for the decorations, many people plan a "two holiday" trip. The last halloween party is usually on the 1st (depending on how the days of the week fall) and the first christmas party is typically a week later, so an 8 or 9 day trip can have both parties. MK will be fully decorated and it usually happens over night. The castle lights go up by late sept and if you are staying at the contemporary and stay up very late, you can often watch them testing them piece by piece (its fun to watch). Epcot and the resorts take time and aren't fully christmassed till after thanksgiving.

The Halloween period we would come for is 10/28/17 to 11/5/2017. I remember in 2015 we went to the MVMCP in the earlier part of November but don't recall when exactly. But DH had a good point that MK is GORGEOUS when lit up and we all agree, but DD is bent on the MNSSHP so I'm trying to figure out a way to do both the MNSSHP and see the castle iced up.

11/5 might be too early to see the castle lit up. (And actually, if you're leaving on the 5th, you would need the castle to be lit no later than the 4th.

Yeah thats what I thought when I saw the dates. I had hoped the 31st was closer to a weekend to extend our trip more into November. Probably should just leave well enough alone and keep our dates.

I was there the second week of September and can confirm I saw actual lights on the castle. The crane was up and upon close observation some of the lights could be seen on the turrets. :)

So the decorations will physically be on the castle, but the ultimate question is when will they hit the 'on' switch? LOL.

the turrets have since been repainted (they were silver for a day) so i'm not sure the lights are still on it.. i'll be around MK tomorrow and i'll take a close look.

We're doing 10/28-11/8 this year (11 nights) and doing both mnsshp and mvmcp. Your best bet would be to hope for the first party to fall during your trip so you get guaranteed lights and Christmas stuff.

Thank you problem with this is we would need to book well in advance and when we do the MVMCP dates likely won't be out that far out

I've gone past two years around the last week of Oct/ first week of Nov. Last year, the last MNSSHP was Nov. 1st, they had the first lighting of the castle with the Frozen Holiday Wish on 11/4 and the first MVMCP I believe on the 8th. Walking in the on the 4th, people were commenting how when they left at closing on the 3rd it was not yet Christmas and now it was. The decorations had gone up overnight. The morning street performers were all singing Christmas songs and there was Christmas music playing. In 2014, I know it was similar. They had the lighting of the castle a few days before the start of MVMCP. It's nice b/c at least you can see MK dressed up even if you can't stay until the first MVMCP.

Ahh so there is hope to get at least one night

Here now, lights are all on. Crane might be gone or just hidding for 45th.

We did this in 2013. We were at the last MNSSHP. We arrived at MK the following morning and Christmas was everywhere! Halloween decorations had disappeared overnight. It was amazing, given that we had only left MK at midnight the day before.

The parks have a lot of decorations up the first week of November, but not all. MK does because of the parties. The resorts will still have Autumn decorations up for the first couple of weeks of November, at least that's what was up when I went in November of 2014.
