how long at magic kingdom

hi. can anyone tell me how long i should plan to spend at magic kingdom? it will be me, my husband, and our then 21 month old son and we will be skipping the thrill rides. i ask because we plan on visiting mgm in the morning to see playhouse disney, then heading back to the resort for a rest/nap and then off to magic kingdom by about 2:30 to catch the parade. is this possible/practical? will we have enough time there? thanks!

What time does the Mk close that day? I really do not think you would be satisfied with that amount of time at MK. With a 21 mo old, I really do not think I would spend the time to go to MGM just for one show. I would be a MK at opening (lines will be much shorter then), and stay there as long as the little one is happy. If needed a early nap at the hotel before the parade and then finish your dat at MK. If you get all done there and MGM is open late that day then I "might" consider going back to see play house disney. One so little will be happy with whatever.

MK is where we spend most of our time. My girls LOVE it. I do a day and at least 2 more half days.

They could spend hours just at Fantasyland. Then there's ToonTown and then there's the Buzz ride and the Alladin ride in other areas. As a family you could also do Haunted Mansion, Pirates, Tiki Room, Country Bears Jamboree, Astro Orbitor....

MK is the best park for little ones.

MGM only has the shows and maybe the Great Movie ride.

I too would suggest hitting MK first if you are doing this- those little kid rides(non-thrill can get killer lines very quickly) I have seen 1 1/2 hours at Peter Pan! And often those fast passes disappear quickly also. I would think you could do a quick trip to Fantasyland- hitting all the biggies- Pooh/Small world ect...Toon Town can be a time zapper-but if you need to see some characters this is the place to go- hop the train and head over to Frontierland- walk to Adventureland and maybe do the Jungle Cruise and the Carpet Ride. Oh I forgot about the Speedway in Tomorrowland.(my little guy loves that one and this is another long line ride.) My guy has older siblings so he knows all about Buzz Lightyear and has to do that ride when we go. It is one of his favorites. As for Playhouse Disney-I would think you could go back for one of the later shows there-the first show is always packed because who else gets up that early except those of us with little kids! Also are you staying onsite- use the early morning hour if you can for MK- you will be able to see almost all of Fantasyland before they open the park to the public.

I really think you are going to need more time so you can enjoy what it has to offer . We are planning to do MK for 2 days and I'm sure we won't be able to see all of it .

I would definelty spend more time in MK. It is our favorite park. I think you're 21 month old would love the Pooh ride, It's a Small world, etc... I would defiently allow 1-2 days for MK. Half-day at MGM should work out fine for you since you are only doing Playhouse Disney. Have a great time!

Our DD was 21 months this past trip, and we skipped MGM. It just wasn't worth the time involved to miss MK. She loved MK and all the characters and rides.

Another vote for spending waaaaay more time in Magic Kingdom. The Winnie the Pooh ride, Philharmagic, Bear Jamboree, Peter Pan's Flight, Carousel, Teacups, Dumbo, and It's a Small World are not to be missed for the toddler set. On the other hand, except for the shows, you could skip MGM altogether for the 2 year-old.

Thanks to everyone for your suggestions! You'll be happy to know that we have devoted a full day to MK. I am **hopefully** going to be pregnant when we go, and since it isn't recommended that I go on the Kilimanjaro Safari at AK, and we can't take our son on most of the rides there anyway, we will skip it. We only live 15 minutes from the Detroit Zoo and decided that while it is a completely different setting/ experience, skipping it would allow more time at the other parks. This way we can split that day between MGM and Epcot, since there are only a handful of things we want to see at each. Actually, at MGM, we only planned on seeing Playhouse Disney...any other must sees with our son? Thanks again for your tips!
