You just checked in at the front desk and now your off to see your room....
So Approximately how long a walk do you think it is it from the lobby to the furthest room at BWV?

Using Google Earth I estimated the distance from the front desk area to the furthest room for a few DVC resorts.

So where do you think Boardwalk Villas measures in at?

I have no idea, but two years in a row we were at that farthest point! We were next to the stairs that let you out near the canal. We didn't mind though. We actually enjoyed the canal view with TOT in the background.

It takes about 100 seconds to walk it so I am guessing it is about 150 yards. Since I have walked the Kidani hall to a room at the end of its north wing, I can deny that the boardwalk walk is long. The Kidani walk is over four times longer.

We had room 3001 in May. I'd guess the lowest one, I don't think it's much more than 2 football fields.

I'm guessing between 800 and 1000 feet. We really don't think it's that bad for the Boardwalk View which is the best view at WDW. Plus if you use the stairs the walk can be much shorter.

Like DebbieB we've also had room 3001. At first is was OMG but once we figured out the back staircase and started getting off the bus at the Swan, everything was great. In fact we kind of enjoyed seeing how the Attic was used for various functions. The hall length is more a psychological issue for most healthy people as we routinely walk that far outside and think nothing of it.

Our longest hall-way stay was from a standard view on the end by the parking lot area, but we were on the ground floor. That was nice when we coming from the busses since we could walk right over there and go in the back way.

We once had a boardwalk view at the very end of the building. That was a bit of a hike too.

We walked over to the Swan too. I agree that the length is exaggerated. No one says it is too far to walk from the MK entrance to the end of Main Street, probably about the same distance.

So when do we get the answer?

Interesting that you mention Main Street as the correct answer to this question is coincedently the same distance between the center of the Town Square and the center of the HUB. ( From Roy and Minnie to Walt and Mickey. )

BTW, the answer choices listed in the poll were not randomly chosen but rather represent the "Front Desk to Furthest Room" distances for variuos other DVC resorts

Answer comes tomorrow night.

Distances from the Front Desk Lobby to the Furthest Room for DVC Resorts*:
AKV Kindani = 1,425 ft.
BLT = 1,000 ft.
BCV = 1,000 ft.
VWL = 975 ft.
AKV Jambo = 825 ft.
BWV = 675 ft.

*Distances for changes of floors not included.
FYI - OKW and SSR are each over 3,500 ft.

Some more info on the BWV distance:
  • The furthest boardwalk view rooms are a bit closer than then furthest standard view rooms as the Distane to room #2001 next to JellyRolls is only 635 feet versus the 675 feet to room #2135 down next to the tennis courts.
  • As mention before the 675 feet is the same distance down Main Street in the Magic Kingdom from the center of town square to the center of the hub. It is also the same distnce as the walk from the BWV lobby to the parking lot entrace closest to the BW Convention center via the covered walway.

POLL RESULTS AT TIME OF THIS POSTING:
675 ft. 6 17.65%
825 ft. 3 8.82%
975 ft. 5 14.71%
1,000 ft. 11 32.35%
1,425 ft. 9 26.47%

CONGRATULATIONS! to the six who got it right.

The the resort that tends to get the most complaints for being a long distance from the lobby actually has the shortest distance. :goodvibes

Obviously the reason for the long distances for BLT, BCV, and VWL are because the front desk lobby is in a different building.

The distance from the DVC building lobby to the furthest room will be much shorter.

eta: Also, is the Kidani measurement from the Kidani lobby or the AK lobby? The Kidani check-in is actually in the Kidani lobby, not the AK lobby.

Exactly. Are you measuring the corridor distance or the distance from check in? And this is only horizontal distance, not vertical distance. The actually title of the thread was how long are those BWV hallways? Not how far is it from check in to the furthest room.

And at OKW you would measure from your parking space to your front door.
