How long after you got off the pill....

For DS (who's now 10 1/2 years old) it took 17 months of trying after getting off of the pill (had been on it for about 2 years). For DD (who is now 6 1/2 years old) it was the first month after stopping the pill (had been on it for the years between DS' birth and conceiving DD). So both times....totally different. After taking so long with DS, getting pregnant with DD so quickly was definitely a shock....welcome, but a shock.

It depends, all woman are different, it took my wife almost a year and a half, we though something was wrong at first but then we got pregnant again shortly after the one we waited forever for, LOL.

I've been pregnant 4 times...the first time it was two months that ended in m/c. The second time I was not on the pill but I got pregnant just weeks after my m/c and that one also ended in m/c. I went on the pill for 6 mos and then got off and it only took a month with my dd and with my son it was just two weeks as I was pregnant before I even had my first cycle! I wouldnt say that's the norm though. good luck!

Here's my opinion. Go to the library and check out the book Taking Charge Of Your Fertility. In my opinion this is a MUST read for everyone who wants to get pregnant. It has pictures & is graphic (prepare yourself) but I LOVE this book. It told me things that when I talked to my OB/GYN about it she said, "That sounds logical," but had no idea.

Taking Charge of Your Fertility. Seriously. It's needed info. I'm going to give it to my daughters when they get older. They should know, ya know? We all should know more about that part of ourselves.

#1 it took 1 month. #2 it took 5 months.... but we were so tired from #1 that we weren't "trying" as much!!!

Got off the pill at the end of August, and September 18th, in Disney, we conceived our little princess:

I've heard you should always wait two cycles before you try and get PG, especially after being on the pill for a long time. It takes a while for your system to adjust and the lining of your uterus to thicken up enough to be able to support a pregnancy.

I was on the birth control patch for 5 years after my first DD. Decided we wanted to start trying, took off the patch, and Whammo! First month we were pregnant. Just call me Fertile Myrtle I guess! :rotfl:

For some strange reason when I was younger I somehow got the impression that it would take 6 months to a year once I went off the pill to get pregnant ???- I don't know where the heck I got that, but anyways my DH and I had been married about 2 months, and both knew we wanted to at least be pregnant within a year or so... Well I stopped taking the pill, and that first month I was pregnant, so I think it depends on the person. When I got pregnant the second time it only took about a month after getting off well.

2 months both times:rotfl2: My mom kids me that if my dh's pants were in the room I would get preggers LOL

It took me two years. We needed fertility treatments. We ended up conceiving using clomid and intrauterine insemination (IUI).

I took my last pill end of March and I found out that I was pregnant in the early part of June. I had one period post-pill. I had been on it for years.

it took us 2 years from the time I went off the pill. It took over 9 months before I finally got my first period. I went through a battery of test which showed nothing wrong but for some reason it just did not happen.
That was, until my husband quit his job and decided for a career change and we decided to stop trying. We found out the the following mont we were expecting, but in the end the change was for the better and what we needed even though at the time it didn't seem that way.

For DD#1, I got pregnant my second month off the pill. With DD#2 (due in March), I got pregnant the first month off the pill. All I know is that I am VERY thankful that the pill really was working for our first few years of marriage! ;)

I do think it's very individual and there's no way to guess from one person to the next. In reality, both times we were "aiming" for an April/May baby, thinking it would take a few months... we were just early in our thinking. :)

It took me 5 months, came off it in september last year got pregnant late January this year (honeymoon baby lol) now a proud mummy to 2 week old Morgan

did you get pregnant? How far in advance does a woman need to get off the pill in order to get knocked up? ;)

just curious how it was for all of you out there....

I think I am going to stop taking the pill around March/April of 2009.

Once cycle. One time on purpose and one time not... SURPRISE!!! :lmao:

Ten years.

ETA: I guess that isn't exactly true. I did get pregnant after about a year, but it was a molar pregancy. No baby. So, it took ten years to get our son.

1st pregnancy - 2 1/2 months, resulted in DD10.

2nd pregnancy - got pregnant WHILE on the pill. The pregnancy didn't last very long (m/c at 5 weeks).
