did you get pregnant? How far in advance does a woman need to get off the pill in order to get knocked up? ;)

just curious how it was for all of you out there....

I think I am going to stop taking the pill around March/April of 2009.

With DD4 is was 3 months with DS2 it was 1 month. Two my my GF both were preggo within 3 months of stopping the pill. I know everyone is different but my honest advice is if you don't want it to happen right away wait... speaking from experience, I expected at least 3 months before getting PG with DS2 and surprise when the first month I did :o)

with DD4 i was prego within the first month. with DD2 i was prego within 2 months. DH and i want to try for a 3rd but with our uppcoming trip to WDW and the chances of getting pregnant more or less as soon as i get off the pill we decided to wait until Jan. So think long and hard before yo get off the pill because you might just get pregnant sooner than you think:lmao:

It took me a year and 1/2 after going off. I was on the pill from 13 years old for cysts and went off when I was 28. So it made me not ovulate.(sp?)I needed fertilty pills to get it regular. So I never went back on after my daughter and was surprised to find out chirstmas day 2003 I was going to have my 2nd. So you really can't go by other people.
Best advice talk to your doctor.

I got off the pill on Jan 1 and got pregnant on Feb 23. I had one period in between. Definetly did not expect it to be so quick, but was super excited. I would wait until you are ready because it can be quick or it can take a while.

I stopped at the end of December, DD was born the following November so I was pregnant within 2 months. We did not expect it to happen so quickly; my bf also became pregnant within just a few months after she stopped taking the pill also.

I went off the pill a good 7 months before we started trying because I was getting bad migraines and was tired of having that side effect. I charted my temps to avoid getting pregnant and was successful doing that along with condoms of course on the days I knew I was fertile. I ended up having a condition called PCOS which I had suspected before my doctors confirmed it because of how my charts looked. After I was officially diagnosed and given the right medication to help regulate my cycles I was able to get pregnant within a month. Of course my case is not something you see everyday, but it is common. I have friends that got pregnant immediately to some that ended up having to get IVF because of some issues. You just won't know until you try.

I went off the pill July 10, 2004 and according to the doctor conceived July 27. Since I've had high risk pregnancies they did an ultrasound after my positive pg result in August (I didn't even think I was pg and on Aug 10th I had gone to Great America and was riding all the rides. It was after I got sick for the first time ever, I knew something was wrong).

It was six months after I got off the pill that I realized I was pregnant. I kept reading online and most places said you need at least a year to get it out of your system so it was a surprise when I found out. Now Dh and I are two weeks away from the due date and seeing our little girl.

I just want to say that if you do decide to get off the pill to complete your cycle of pills and end them at the point where you are taking the sugar pills. I stopped in the middle of a pack and I don't know if it was related to that but I have a crazy hormonal system after that. My periods were goofed up and it took me a long time to get regular. I had always been regular before the pill so I think it was because I got too excited about wanting to get pregnant. It took me four years but I finally had the best little boy in the world. He's 8 now! Good luck!

I took my last pill 8/30/2002 and got pregnant 9/6/2002. That was crazy!!! Baby #1 took 18 months to get knocked up with but I wasn't on the pill before then. Baby #2 is the one listed above. I am on the pill now so I can get off in the spring and hopefully get pregnant. hee hee hee

But in 2002, ob/gyn said it would take 3 months or more to get knocked up after pill and bam! Literally, days!

I went off the pill in mid February (I finished a cycle and just didn't start a new pack). I never got my period. That is not unusual for me though and was part of the reason I was on the pill in the first place, to have regular adn predictable cycles. I was reading the book Taking Charge of Your Fertility and knew what signs to look for so the first time I saw the "signs" was the end of June so we tried and yup, we got preggers right away.

I knew EXACTLY when we conceived. Don't forget we found out in July that I was pregnant. Go to the doctor and the nurse asks when was my last period. I say mid February and she says there is no way you are 5 months pregnant. It took me 10 minutes to explain to her that I was only a few weeks pregnant.......that I hadn't ovulated that whole time. Same thing happened at the ultrasound office (went for an early ultrasound to date the pregnancy since they didn't believe me). Drove me crazy.

Off the pill??? Heck...DH of 3 months knocked me up ON the pill! No missed pills, no antibiotics, nothing. Oh, and I didn't miss my first cycle either (light, but still had it). I was 8 weeks along before I found out. Doctor just said it does happend and was meant to be!

I couldn't even tell my husband! I found a card, wrote inside of it, and handed it to him. He read it and we didn't talk about it for two days! I guess we thought if we didn't acknowledge it, it wasn't real. :rotfl2: Anyway, DD is now 7 and we would not change a thing!

It took my husband and I 2 years but I don't think that is normal. I had been on bc for 6 years. We found out I was pregnant the day my dh went to get tested to see if his count was good. :lmao: We said that no matter what happens we were going to be happy with no kids. However alot of my friends got pregnant within the first month.

This was a long time ago, I think I finished a pack in September and ended up getting preggie in late Nov.

I had been a worrywart for years about getting pregnant(irregular periods) My Dr. was :rotfl2: when I went into to see him to recommend an OB/GYN and double check the results.

My wife took her last pill when we were in Disney this September and she is already pregnant. We go to the doctors on the 24th to find out how far along she is. We could have a little late present from Disney World.

Our first was a surprise not on any hormonal birth control (and probably pretty good proof teenagers and condoms just aren't a reliable combination) our second then took over 4 years to conceive after spending just 11 months on the pill, we were diagnosed with 2ndry infertility (no idea anything like this would effect us before it happened) after that we never made a return to hormonal BC... #3 was conceived 11 weeks after #2s birth, pg's 4, 5 & 6 all ended in m/c but took between 2 & 10 months to conceive... pg #7 resulted in baby #4 and he took 13 months to conceive with charting and use of FAM.

Although this isn't normal (secondary infertility or subfertility) it can happen entirely unexpectedly- not just to people who already have obvious issues.

I had been on the pill since 16 (for female issues). I went off the pill when I was 28. I was pregnant with DS in 3 months. With DD in only 1 month. But I think it is so different for each person. Good luck!

I was off the pill for almost a year (or was it a little over a year??) before I got pregnant HOWEVER we also didn't start trying right away. I tried to take my temperature for a couple of months and tried to get pregnant when I thought my temperature was where it was supposed to be for about 3 months with no luck (I don't think I was doing it right:rotfl: ), and then I used an ovulation kit and got pregnant first try.
Everyone's different and as my OB told me, you never know what's going to happen until you try!
