How long after an interview would you guess you get the call??? I am hoping to hear I got hired!!! I interviewed on Friday. I know they had 6 candidates for the teaching position they were interviewing, so I bet it took most of the day on Friday. I am guessing that they would have picked their top candidate Friday, but I am just guessing on that. I know they also need to do a background check. How long does a background check take? Ughhh, I hate this waiting game!!! Please pray or send pixie dust that I got it! :wizard:

OH MY GOSH... A week?????!!!!!!!! OH man, How am I going to make it a week? :confused3

Thanks for the pixie dust!

When I use to do the background checks when working in the security department for one company. We usually received them back in a couple of days.

Was this your 1st or 2nd interview?

Do they usually do 2nd interviews for teaching positions? :confused3

It was my first interview. Sometimes they do a second interview, but not always. I imagine that was it. I WISH they were doing second interviews.... THere is so much that I could have added to my interview, but I was so nervous! I wish I had a second chance to WOW them.

when i interviewed for government positions i had to wait until at least 3 different levels of personnel reviewed and approved my my choice before offering a position. and god help me if one was on vacation....

:wizard: Pixie dust to you!

I used to work in the administrative office for a public school system. Things sometimes took a while to process, unless it was a position they thought there were limited candidates to fill (science, math, some foreign languages). Since you only interviewed Friday, I would not panic.

I am pretty sure the CORI results take three business days, so if they are waiting on that, you probably won't hear until Wednesday or Thursday. You could always call this coming Friday if you haven't heard to see where things stand. That would be reasonable.

Good luck!

I think it all depends on the company as well. At the place I work now I was called within 24 hours after my interview with the job offer. Since they are doing a background check it will probably take a little longer for them to contact you. I wouldn't freak it's only monday!

Good luck!

I once had a job call me after 6 weeks to make me an offer! I had already moved on by then.

On the flip side, I once had the hiring manager call and leave a message at my house literally while I was walking out to my car after the interview!

Most of the time it's around a week or so.

OK, thanks for all of the responses. I feel a little better. But as the time goes by I keep thinking of better answers I could have given. AHHHHH, the stress and pressure.... It is going to be a long couple of days..... :hourglass

Did you send a follow up thank-you note? I always found that this was an opportunity to "remind them why you are the best candidate" and possibly hit any points you missed or messed up during the interview.

Twice I've gotten the call the same day. The first time, the phone was ringing when I walked in the door about 45 minutes after the interview. The second time I interviewed at noon and got the call at four...she asked if I was "still" interested!

Never waited longer than 2-3 days.

I forgot to mention the thank you note. When I was hiring people, I never made an offer to anyone who didn't send a thank you note. It really does make a big impression. I was told on several occasions that the reason I got the job, the second interview, etc, was because of the thank you note.

Calling or e-mailing never hurts, even if it just gets you "We don't know because of _________."

I woul do a follow up by sending them a note or calling them or emailing. Do not panic about it. They interview on Friday and had a weekend. It is tuesday now.. I do not think that they would just pick someone that fast for a teaching postion. Give it time. And good luck!
