How long after a ride opens is FOTL access available?

I was under the impression Universal might be moving to an 'extra magic hours' type thing for resort guests across the board? This won't suit me so I won't book into the hotel if thats the case. Just my personal situation. I can see it's attraction though.

That's news to me...I haven't heard anything like that being considered. :confused3

They appear to definately be doing it for WWoHP but mention has been made on other boards that this is 'testing the water'

I have emailed universal to ask :)

All new attractions have a technical rehearsal period, where the ride is not officially open, but they are just testing out how the ride is run with a queue full of people, and the ride team can practice running it with guests. During this period, the management has the right to open and close the ride whenever they please, and to even close the ride, give no explanation, and turn everyone in the queue away with no guest service recovery. Potter will have this same thing, so I know during that time, no Express will be offered, but after that? I'm not sure.

on some of the packages, the on site hotel guests do get the extra hour prior to official opening time.
that is nothing new.
it was available when i was there last year.

really not that many hotel guests take advantage of it when i was there.

Exactly right, this isn't new nor does it signify any type of move away from having express access as part of the perks for staying there. I contacted their VIP department and was told that, as soon as guest services deems that allowing Express access will not unduly interfere with the regular line, it will be available.
