how long a stay before you would unpack?

I never unpacked until my husband swore I would be more organized if we did...so I tried it and it works. We bring a big laundry bag and all dirties go right in and that fits right into the duffel bag. We travel so much we have learned to pack exactly what we need...usually only a few extra shirts for messy boys and dark pants/shorts that they can wear more than once.

Okay, count me in as one of the weirdo's;) I unpack and set up house when we arrive and I do laundry before we leave. I hate to pack dirty clothes. The last night of our vacations everyone is usually pretty worn out and we will normally have to exit early the next morning so the last day we plan all the last min things we want to do then that eve. we settle in with an easy dinner and enjoy the last few things of the resorts that we stay at. I do laundry and get things packed for the morning. Also you know how sometimes when you get back from the vacation and you feel like you need another vacation before getting back to the grind- it helps with that as well. When we get home everyone takes their luggage to their room, puts the clothes back in the drawers and enjoy home before we get back to reallity.;)

I unpack and then put the dirty clothes back into the suitcase after I wear them, so when I am ready to leave, the re-packing is done.

It doesn't take me too long to unpack though. I can do it in about 10 minutes usually.

I never unpack! I arrange everything by outfits and know where everything is in my suitcase. I roll a lot of it so it doesn't wrinkle. Besides toiletries by the sinks and dresses that I will hang in the closet, everything else stays put!

I always unpack & :scared1: iron for the whole trip while Dh goes to the store for beer, chips, whatever. By the time he gets back, I'm usually ready to go. I also use the empty luggage for dirty laundry so there really is no packing when leaving. We are doing a split stay in May so that will be a new challenge for me. I guess one small bag for the first part & all the rest of our stuff for the second stay. It will work out. Just can't pick one resort to stay at this time. We just love them both.

We just live out of our suitcase, and keep one or two garbage bags out for the dirty clothes. I have everything paired up, and everything in a specific spot in the suitcase so I know exactly where everything is - for clothes that is. I do unpack the toiletries.

C'mon, it takes 5 min to unpack and settle in, 10 min if you're slow.

Steve
That depends on how much crap you've brought and how many people you're unpacking.

I unpack for all trips, long and short. I hang my stuff up so that it isn't wrinkly (though I usually have to iron anyway, but at least the clothes have hung out a bit.)

I like having everything ready to use and in its place. :)

I usually unpack at WDW. However, if I were moving between resorts 3 times as the OP is doing, I might be hesitant to do so.

Count me in as an unpacker even for an overnighter. I'm another girl who likes everything in it's place and to feel I've arrived home.
Conversely when I was younger and went on long road trips I've lived out of my rucksack for more than 3 months at a time!!!

Cool-Beans,
I agree, I unpack (even for a 1 nighter) and hang up anything that needs it. I guess the 5 minutes comes from 10 years in the Navy. Don't get in my way when it comes to packing / unpacking.

Always totally unpack right away, load up the dresser drawers with our clothes and put the suitcases in the closet. No suitcases in view means I'm home and can really enjoy my vacation!

I agree. 1 night or 10 I always unpack and make it feel like vacation, no bags in sight.:cloud9:

The only thing that I unpack is the toiletries. Everything else stays in the suitcase, no matter how long we stay.

This is also our philosophy.. we leave everything in the suitcase except for our dirty clothes... we take two dirthy clothes bag... actually we use two old large pillow slips.

I'm surprised to see so many people do not unpack their suitcases... maybe I thought we were the weird ones.

For a 5 nihgt trip I unpacked my clothes, nephew's clothes. Mom kept her items in the suitcase. Guess who got dressed faster EVERYDAY...:rolleyes1

I usually use a drawer for dirty clothes. I also find it easier to pack clean vs dirty clothes so I often do laundry before returning from a trip like Disney. Makes coming home less hectic too. However, I thought the $4/load w/my own detergent was excessive at Disney and won't do laundry there again.

anything longer than 1 day, I unpack. I don't feel "settled" until everything is unpacked and the suitcases are away. However, we always come in the night before and stay off site. I don't unpack for the one night. In fact, I pack a separate small suit case with toiletries and clothers for one night to bring in and leave the big bag in the car overnight.

We unpack everything, then I pack all dirty items into suitcases and when I get home, wash it all. I have a seperate bag for non-clothes items. That way I know everything in drawers is clean and ready to go, the room is never a mess and no time wasted packing to do the dreaded gong home thing! I can spend every extra minute enjoying vacation.

But then you have to re-pack as well!! :headache:

I only unpack for 3+ nights, but my husband will unpack for even 1 night stays...so now that we are married, I just let him do the packing and unpacking. :cool1:

I unpack totally on day one! Clothes get hung in closet or folded in drawers. H&BA get put out near sink. I cannot stand to just "wing it"!

I always unpack - and for a split stay, I pack two suitcases - one for each resort - and only need to transfer toiletries from one to the other.
