How long would it take 1st timers to do each park w/ FOTL? We are traveling late March w/ DS (10), DD (13). Thanks for help!

I would say make it atleast two days (one day per park) but if you really want to see it all and enjoy it all, I'd go with minimum 3 days (one day per park + 1 day to do favorites)

FOTL (more commonly referred to as "Express") costs extra at Universal. We don't offer it free. Right now the Express passes are running $15 for one park, and $25 for both parks. The prices may vary by the time March comes though.

FOTL is routinely referring to on-site hotel stays, not the express pass that you purchase.

I have done 2 parks in one day without FOTL, so two days should suffice.

Yes, that's right. I was referring to the FOTL access avail if we stay on-site at Universal property. 2 parks in one day sounds like a mammoth achievement, princesspumpkin!

2 nights, 3 days works out real well.
If you can, check into the onsite hotel early in the morning at 7am and start your visit to the parks. It's not guaranteed, but sometimes a room will be ready. That way you can unpack a few items, and then head over. If the room is not ready, you still get your magic keys.
If you are flying in, or driving down, it's best to check into a cheap hotel the night before to save some money if you will be arriving late in the afternoon.
