How likely is my nasty 10yo stroller going to be stolen?

I decided to take a 3 wheeled teal and purple jogging stroller to WDW for my 5yo, but it is old. Like 10 years old. Are the strollers that get stolen the new, upscale ones or will my nasty stroller be a target too? It is hard to lock it.

I don't think it matters honestly. I have read stories about older strollers getting stolen as well as the expensive ones. We bought a small stroller lock for the wheels on ours since we did have an incident at Disneyland where someone tried to take ours. You can get the locks at Babies R us for about $20. Someone in another thread posted a link a little further down.

It has been awhile, but I understood that jogging strollers were not allowed?

Just a heads up to check.

the ones that get taken are the ones a thief wants.

like your car.. why can a MB get stolen one night, but a crappy Cobalt gets hit the next... its what the person wants.

false.. I saw some in October

Joggers ARE allowed, bike trailer/strollers are NOT allowed. hth. AND I just pop the front wheels off of my stroller and stick them in my bag.

saw a note once a long time ago, put a bag with with a poopy diaper tied onto the handle. person said they always had their stroller when they got out of an attraction! ;)

It's my understanding that most strollers feared stolen are merely moved or rearranged by CMs.

Sometimes, another guest mistakenly takes a look-alike stroller.

Rarely, a theft occurs.
Most often, the thefts are the more valuable ones.

I've left my valuable double jogger at home and took my cheap fold up so I didn't have to think about it.

nice!!!! how about taking a plain diaper, putting brown food coloring in it to LOOK like a poopy diaper, minus the smell?

yes, I've had many times a stroller moved.. but never stolen. Also, tagging the stroller with something bright and identifiable should reduce the "oopsy" mistaken identity cases..

LOL I do like your train of thought! I bought one off craigslist like that, but ended up bringing out Mac anyway. I figured if it did get stolen, I'd just upgrade ;)

I mis-read the thread title -- I thought it said, "How likely is it that my nasty 10yo will be stolen?" ;)

Not likely. Taken by mistake, perhaps, but that's not too likely, either with a jogger.

Mistaken identity aside, most of the REAL stroller thefts are of models with high resale value on the online market.

Me too! :lmao::lmao:

I would think it would be less likely, simply because there's probably not much resale value to an older, "nasty" stroller. Most of the thefts I've read about have been of mid-range strollers from popular brands (Macs, Joovy, Peg Perego - the ones that sell on eBay for almost what they go for new). There's always a slight chance, since some thefts presumably aren't for resale but rather for use, but it is more likely that someone looking to steal a stroller is going to go for something with better resale potential.

I don't think you have anything to worry about, new or old. If it does get taken, most likely a case of mistaken identity.

The plus side of taking an older stroller is that it might be easier to find in the "sea"!

Have a super trip!

I once left my annual passes and digital camera in the top of the stroller by accident. Everything was there when I rushed back after realizing my mistake. I know I was lucky, but I'm not too sure that stealing strollers is rampant in Disney.

In some ways, I wish someone would steal my Graco duo glide stroller--I hate that thing!

I stand a greater chance of getting hit by frozen waste from an airplane potapotty than my stroller getting jack'd in Disney

Beter yet, purchace a thing of fake plastic "poo" and leave it in the seat of the stroller... problem solved.
