How likely are MK hours to get extended?

I too am hoping for at least 10pm closings from April 28th - May 3rd for my trip. I do have to thank everyone in this thread, I would have had no idea that DAH was being offered on Thursday if I hadn't checked. Hopefully I'll at least get extended hours to 10 on Sunday/Monday/Tuesday and extended hours to 12am with EMH on Wednesday.

For those five May dates where DAH is not being offered from 9pm-12am, MK hours won't go to 10pm - they'll remain a 9pm closing.

If park hours for those days were going to be extended, they would have announced later DAH event times with today's opening of new dates.

Hope that makes sense.

5/30: MK Park hours: 9AM-10PM, DAH 9pm - midnight - one hour of overlap. What happens to people in the park on a regular daytime admission during that one hour?

It appears someone on the Disney side has flubbed up on the DAH hours. Wouldn’t be the fist time, this has happened before when new dates were announced).

My guess is they really intend DAH to be 10-1 on that night, not 9-12. I suspect it’s not the other way around in that they’ll change park closing to 9pm.

I’ll keep an eye out for changes. Thank you for pointing this out.

I’m going to guess Friday, April 12.

But yes, if history is a guide (always a tough statement to make with Disney), you have a reasonably good chance of seeing later MK hours for your dates.

I'm leaning toward the 12th too but they have gone against grain a few times lately and done it earlier in the month so I think the 5th has a shot as well. But 99.999999% it will be a Friday as it has been for awhile now.

I don’t recall exactly - I believe it wasn’t a disconnect between the park calendar but it was a disconnect between the Disney Parks Blog and the “Know Before You Go” info when booking (I know, shocker).

As to the May dates, someone on the DAH thread has a confirmation e-mail from 5/23 & 5/30 that says event hours are 10am-1am, so who the heck knows at this point. Classic.

So what does disney do about fastpass times if they change the hours a few weeks before? I am just curious because if park hours are until 9pm 60 days in advance when I make my fastpasses, when they extend the hours to say like 10 or even 11, do more fastpass times suddenly become available?

Yes, that’s pretty much what happens. It’s not instantaneous, they get loaded within the next 24 hours (ish) or so.

So for example, these monthly hours updates often happen around noon-mid-afternoon on a Friday. You’ll see FPs start being added later that day-through the weekend. There’s usually a thread or two that gets posted and becomes a “FP watch” thread.

This can often be a good time to adjust and/or move things around as needed.

Sorry to bump this thread, but I got a TP alert that Disney extended MK hours on Sunday, April 28th. Was a 9pm close, now a 10pm close. The timing's weird (a random Wednesday?) but it looks like they're finally updating for late April/early May.

I read everyone's comments! Same worries here about all these new After Hours Event tickets. Yesterday they added MK Villians After Hours starting in June. We have been JUNE WDW vets since 2007. Always loved the late SUMMER night hours that were the norm for years. Disney found a way to up charge nights. We upgraded to AKL for son's high school graduation but I will not be spending on the new DAH. We wait until arrival date to determine if we need Park hopper added on. With the less hours and might be worth always having the Park Hopper option.
