How late can a reception go on until?

Would it be possible to have the reception in the Whitehall room, a dessert party at Sago Cay and then go back to the Whitehall room for a while?

I think it can go pretty late, weddings that have the 7:30 pm time slot would go until 1:30 am. If you did this it would be right in time to a pre-reception Illuminations party, only with cocktail foods instead of desserts.

We are actually doing something similar to what you want to do. We'll have our ceremony at 5 pm, pre-reception 6-7, reception 7-9:30, wishes dp 9:30-10:30, back to reception 10:30 - 12 pm.

In order to do we're extending our reception by 1 hour which does incur additional fees for the DJ and the room. I think the extra is about $600. We're still thinking about whether this will be too much running around, but I really want those wedding day fireworks photo and DF wants the wedding be an evening wedding at the GF. So this is the best compromise for us.

I have actually done receptions (for British couples :) that have lasted 8 hours. Yes- that was JUST the reception). However, the time was 12noon to 8pm.

Receptions do go as late as 1:30 am. You can return to the room, although you will be billed as the room was not interrupted. For instance, if you have a Reception time of 6pm-12midnight, but you are leaving from 9pm-10:30pm for a dessert party and then returning, you still have to pay the staff/DJ/etc for the full six hours.

Hope this helps!

I'm extending mine til midnight too! (Pre-reception is in Whitehall and reception is in St. Augustine Ballroom. I love the dessert party idea!

Thats what we did, 7:30 WP, cocktail illuminations till 9:30 and AAR reception.... the DJ kept playing till well after 2 ...Only thing i dont recommend is booking your MK photo shot for that 5am...DH and I could barely keep our eyes open for the pics
