How late is too late for a last minute trip?

I'm thinking about planning a last minute trip. I'm wanting to pay for the airfare with some points I have through a rewards program at work. I need to wait for them to email me back, and if the fare is reasonable, I can move on to booking a room. I'm a renter, and I've emailed the person we always rent through to see if he has points available, but if he doesn't I'll try to go through a broker. Is it even possible to book DVC 30 days out in the summer (don't care about location)? Or should I resign myself to just staying in a Value?

If you are flexible about the resort and if you are not trying for the weeks around July 4, then I think you should be able to come up with something. Good luck!

The biggest problem with being at a 30 day mark is that no one will make a reservation until they have your money since if you don't pay there points become fairly useless.

Yeah, that's what I was thinking about. Today is the 30 day mark, so this would require more trust than usual in a renting transaction. That's a lot of faith to put in a total stranger on either side. It would be best if the guy we normally rent from would come through, but that's a long shot. I guess it would be ideal if we could find some last minute distressed points, but that seems to be a long shot as well.

I guess the point is moot. David's checked for me, and there are no studios available for the whole weekend anywhere on property. Oh well.
