How Late is "Late Fall?"

Although finding out our price could still increase chills me to the bone.
Your price will not increase unless you cancel and rebook, or make a change to your current reservation. For instance if there is a ticket price increase and after that you modify your reservation, you'd be subject to the current ticket prices.
I have 16 trips to the World under my belt and have NEVER had the price of a confirmed reservation, paid in full or not, go up nor have I ever heard of it in my 13 years on these boards.
Yes I have never heard of that, had it happen to myself or any clients!
Hijacking with a related question! I am just now within the 499 days to make a room only reservation for Feb 2020 if I want......when could I expect the rates to be released so I would know the confirmed price of the reservation?? ( I would be keeping an eye out for promotions down the road, of course. )
Package pricing for 2020 will most likely be released sometime in mid to late June 2019. Don't hold me to that, however historically that's when rates are released for the next year. If you have a RO booked and want to make it a package when rates are released you'll have to cancel and rebook as RO and packages are two different departments :)

Thanks :-) Would 2020 RO rates likely be published at the same time as package rates??

Yes, however you CAN get a RO rate 499 days before you travel, so before the 2020 package rates come out. Keep in mind though that 1. if you just get the rate and don't book it can change and 2. as mentioned above, if you book the RO and then want to switch to a package it would mean cancelling and re-booking. Not a huge deal to everyone but you'd have your deposit for the RO and your new package deposit tied up for 7-10 days until the RO was credited back to you, which to some people does matter :)

I would still ask that question and have something printed that shows your reservation rate, not just dates. I hear everyone saying it can’t happen, and I’ve only had it happen once in 13 trips, but it absolutely happened to me.

I am an old-school print everything kind of person 8-)

Personally I think late fall means midish December.

Although many of our fellow Dissers believe it’ll be open for US Thanksgiving.

Of course no one knows for certain, lots of theories and educated guesses.

What I DO know is I’ll be avoiding SW: GE like the plague for quite some time. Just seeing the popularity of Pandora and now (on a slightly lesser scale but still busy nonetheless) Toy Story Land there’s no way I’ll attempt SW - it’s cult following trumps the other two in spades and frankly the thought of those crowds terrifies me!

I'm saying that I agree with you and that all packages have that feature. As long as you check in on the last day of the package promo date range you get the promo price for the entire stay. Not just Christmas week but anytime and any package.

This is how I got free dining Easter Week. We checked in on the very last day of the promo and got ten days of free dining.

Not if you book after the rates are published and not if you do not make any changes to the reservation
I never pay in full as we only book room only. As long as I don't change the reservation the rate has never changed, even when rates have otherwise increased.

Like Seinfeld says "Anybody can take the reservation. The trick is to hold the reservation". Agree. You are reserving a room for the dates & price. Otherwise, every time we book a special rate, it would increase when the special is dropped.

My general idea--of course, assuming it's open--is to block out a half-day specifically for GE, and then do something not in a theme park for the rest of the day. Maybe sneak in an FP for SDD, since I know it's a fools errand to try for one for any of the GE stuff.

We are going the second week of December and while I hope SW GE is open then, I know itll be a complete mess. I just wish I could play for it now to get a game plan.

How early do they usually announce official dates for events like this?

I own DVC at BWV, planning first week of December as I have many times. It’s always a hard reservation to get, might be harder next year.
