How late can you be for an ADR?

Once I had a 1900 PF PS at about 6:30, which we totally missed. We showed up at 8:00 and asked if we could get a table as a walk-in, and they still wanted our PS info for some reason. Maybe tracking us (copying over name/phone, etc.), or how late people are, or I don't know....There was plenty of seating available that night, so getting in wasn't a problem.

If a restaurant is more crowded, and we have a 5:00 ADR and unfortunately miss it and don't appear until 6:00, does anyone know if our ADR is still "there" in terms of being seated, or if we'd be just like a walk-in?

How late can you be and still have your ADR?

It's just that we've never been at such a crowded time of year before (going over Christmas), and it's hard for us to know how much time to plan for things.

As far as I've read and experienced, there isn't a hard-and-fast, resort-wide policy. A good rule-of-thumb seems to be 20 minutes.
