How late can we visit a resort?

It's one thing to visit a resort you are not staying at, particularly in light of the fact that Disney markets the dining at those hotels to other customers. Certainly however, the difference between "visiting" and "staying" becomes quite clear at 1AM when all shops and restaurants are closed. This isn't a difficult one, people.
