The problem is we have PS for Hollywod and Vine for 3:30 with the Fantasmic dinner package. Of course 3:30 is the same time as the parade that we just can't miss. So I was wondering if we checked in at 3:45, after or toward the end of the parade, would we still be able to be seated? If not I'll cancel the PS so I don't get charged the $10 per person fee.

Thanks

Hi,

There is no way of knowing the answer to that question...you'll just have to take a chance.

It depends on how crowded the restaurant is and how many other people who have been watching the parade decide to wak in at that exact time!

It is entirely possible you will be seated right away...but it is also entirely possible you will have a long wait.

Since it's 3:30 I'd be surpised if you couldn't just come late and be seated, but I'd call and see if you can change the time. You have nothing to lose.

I now it's going to be busy, we're going on Veteran's Day and there are no other PS available, already tried to change it. I don't expect to be seated right away and would be happy to wait, I just don't want to arrive 15 minutes late and have the CM tell me I can't be seated because I missed my reservation.

As a person that is anal about being on time and early for ADR's please either reschedule your ADR or think about going to the parade at a different time or seeing it another day. The reason I say that is because if you are late for your 3:30 ADR and I (for sake of arguement and simplicity I'll say me) show up for my 4:00 ADR on time and then you show up there is a very good chance that you have just been put on the list above me causing my 4:00 ADR to be pushed back which in turn could cause me and my family to be late for something that we might have been scheduled for.

This exact thing happened to my family at Boatwright's this past month. We had a 6:40 ADR, we showed up at 6:30 and were told that we'd be the next to be seated. Then after five other families show up late for their ADR's (we overheard one man say that he had 6:00 ADR and now it was almost an hour past that time) we continued to get bumped down the list. It was almost 7:30 by the time we left and we never were seated for our 6:40 ADR because people were continually bumping us down the list because even though they were late they were being put on the list in front of us even though we had been there on time, and even early.

So my opinion is that if you have an ADR you either show up on time or you eat somewhere else.

Never thought of it that way...

I have had a different experience.

We had an ADR at Kona cafe. It took us forever to get through the security hold up. They were looking up checking to see if people had an ADR before they would let us in. It took us an extra 20-30 minutes to get trhough.

The restaurant told us we were more than 15 minutes late and we 'lost' our spot. We were put in as a walk-in :confused3

We were seated within 20 minutes. We now make sure we are extra early for our ADR's.

There really should be a more effective way of checking ADR's. They know that people have ADR's that they need to get to. There should be more CM's available to make it run in a more timely fahion.

We got stuck on the monorail (broke down) and were 30 min late for Ohana and they still let us in. I dont know what the rule is but I assume like most places if you are more than 15 min late they will kick you off the list. I wouldnt chance it over a parade that you could probably see another time.

We were about 10 min late for BOMA one evening (our arrival flight got delayed) and we had to go on the wait list as a walk in. We were seated about 90 minutes late.

Upon further review...the parade doesn't actually start at 3:30, it is at 3:00 so I won't have a problem after all. And FYI in answer to my original quetion, the CM I just spoke with at dining reservations says you have a 15 minute grace period before you are considered late. And for those who tried to help without a hidden agenda, thank you.

Glad your problem is resolved!! That should work out well for you!!

I agree with the PPs about showing up on time. However, read a couple things that bothered me. Seems unreasonable of Disney to continue letting people come in late and bumping others down!! 15 minutes is reasonable, I wish they'd stick to that. I'd be really angry about having to continue waiting while those who came in late got seated!! Also, I think in the case of the monorail breaking down, they still should make every effort to seat you in a reasonable amount of time, that's something you have no control over! Of course it could still throw off others' ADR's so it's a dilemma, but you would think it would only be a couple tables at most and as long as people were leaving enough travel time, even a 30 minute breakdown would probably only put them at 15 20 minutes or so late.
