Before the kids broke up for summer, there was meet the teacher afternoon.

During this meeting it was said that the kids had to have pencils only not pens. She is going into year 4 , which is unstandable.

Fast forward to this morning, conversation goes as follows,

Me , Chloe choose some pencils to go with your pencil case
Chloe, why pencils
Me, if you remember your teacher said pencils only.
Chloe, ok these ones

Whilst looking at rubbers,
Chloe, but mam I might get my pen licence in year 4
Me, pardon,
Chloe my pen licence, so I can use pens.

Well I burst out laughing :rotfl2::rotfl2:

Kids say the funniest things.

A lot of schools issue "pen licences" when a child's handwriting is good enough.

Lol....She's right though, before they use pens they have to get something called a 'pen license'.

I've never heard of it either. It sounds like a good incentive for the kids to learn to write well though ::yes::

I've never heard of a pen license either! My DD (age 6) has to write joined up - she was only in Year 1! It seems too early.:confused3

yeah, it seems to be the thing these days.
I know the kids at my son school have to use pencils, once their writing becomes neat enough they can earn their pen licence. ;)

If they had been doing this when I was at school I would have still been writing with pencils when I left the Sixth Form. :lmao:

:lmao: I didn't know about a pen licence either. I know we did have to get to a certain level of writing before we could use pen and you had to 'qualify' in ballpoint before you could use any kind of fluid ink. I am going back some time now :rolleyes1 so it's obviously been around without a title.

A pen licence! I also had a good laugh at the first post! :rotfl2:

Just asked my daughter and she didn't know about the "Pen Licence"

She is going into Y6 this week and hasn't yet started using a pen.

Thanks for the laugh :rotfl2::rotfl2:
