For our trip next year we are planning on trying a few new restaurants (which is very hard for me... I don't like change ;) ). One is Whispering Canyon Cafe. Thoughts... experiences? Is it a good choice for dinner?

Thanks!!!

....you don't mind interrupting your dinner to twirl your napkin in the air or
ride a stick horse around the restaurant. If you want quiet, calm and uninterrupted eating, this is NOT the place. It's a hoot if you're in the right
frame of mind. :thumbsup2

we saw the travel channel special a few weeks ago about WL- saw the WCC and immediately called and canceled our ressie
(no flames please) it was just not for us......
we switched to artist point.....:goodvibes

The food is very average. The whole thing here is entertainment for the little ones (as if they don't get enough entertainment everywhere else at WDW). If you've got small children, and you want additional entertainment for them, and a relaxing good meal means very little, by all means, go ahead and make that res.

Now I like the food. I think the pulled pork is fabulous :thumbsup2

It is a rowdy place though:dance3:

it's a good place if you want to have a loud and fun dinner. i went with my 5 roommates (all girls about 22 years old) last year and went back with another set of girlfriends about the same age. we absolutely love it! we all get the skillet and it's so amazing that most of us sent our skillets back 2 times for refills on the food (bbq pork, chicken, ribs- the best ever!, corn, mashed potatos, baked beans, the list goes on :)

:wizard: Two years ago we went to Whispering Canyon for breakfast and loved it. We really enjoyed the napkin waving etc. So last year we decided to go there for dinner. I was really disappointed. We had reservations and when we arrived they tried to sit us at a table that wasn't even in the dining room, but at the back of the dining room in a separate area. When we said we wanted to be in the main dining room where all the fun was we were told (not too pleasantly) that we would have to wait...which we did. The food was not good at all. I got the roast chicken and it was gross. The other thing about the place is that it's only as much fun as your server and ours clearly wasn't in the "cowboy mood." There are so many great places to go in WDW I wouldn't waste a dinner at Whispering Canyon. :sad1:

We had a great time during a family gathering. Like other's here said it is very noisy and it pays to have a sense of humor. It was our nephew's birthday and he asked for the "Ketchup" and got the Ketchup and to top it off a CM ran over to give him a big smootch and ended up chasing him around the restaurant. He about died turning beet red and we got the evidence on camera.LOL If you're not a BBQ or meat fan don't forget to ask about their fish specials. Sometimes they offer great(imho) grilled fish dishes. Have a good time if you decide to dine there.pirate:

Our home resort is WLV so we eat at Whispering Canyon often! The food is simple, picnic fare and can be served family style as all you care to eat. Great barbecue and sides. The CMs are fun and wild here. Dads are made to dance around like ballerinas to the delight of their kids. Kids are given wooden horses to race around the room on. And, if it's your birthday - whether you are 3 or 30, you get to wear a cowboy hat, sport a bandana and get a special complimentary cupcake covered in gummy worms. If you are looking for crazy fun - Whispering Canyon is for you!

We ate at WCC for the first time two weeks ago, and we loved it! It was so much fun, the food was good, and our server (Heada Lettuce) was great! It was one of our best meals of the trip.

We ate at the Whispering Canyon twice last week. The first time was for lunch. My husband had the all you can eat skillet and it was fantastic. The ribs were to die for. The pulled pork sandwich was delicious as well. There was some hooting and hollering but it only lasted for a few minutes, the rest of the meal was fairly quiet. The next day we had breakfast there. Our family had the all you can eat breakfast skillets and all of the food was wonderful. The restaurant was quiet, mainly because it was 7:30 and not crowded and our waiter did make a few funny remarks but our family enjoyed it. We were on the DDP so we weren't looking at prices but the food was FANTASTIC.

We had a mediocre meal there last year. Also, it's very loud. We'd eaten there in 2004 and enjoyed it a lot, and based on my experiences, I do think the place has gone slightly downhill for both food and service (ours was not the greatest last year). It's not terrible, but no one in my family thought it was worth the trip over to WL, and one of my boys hated how loud it was.

The antics are a bit ho-hum in IMO. But my kids like it. It's my son's favorite place and each kid gets to pick one place. The dinner skillet is okay, but nothing to rave about.

However, last time we convinced my son to go for breakfast instead of dinner and we all really like the skillet. The waffles and biscuits and gravy were really good.

We ate there a couple of weeks ago too...and we also loved it! Our server was fun, and our youngest enjoyed the activities. Four of us had the skillet, and we really enjoyed it. The ribs and pulled pork were great! It's loud, but fun!

We really enjoyed our dinner there last year. The only thing we changed this year is the reservation time. Last year we ate late it was a 8 pm seating and we were almost to tired to really enjoy dinner. This year we have a 5 pm seating. My kids are 11 & 9 and are really looking foward to going back here.

We actually added WCC last minute to our ADRs and than thanks to a 5 hour delay at the airport missed it and had to call up the next morning and try to get in again for that night and did. I am so glad we did dh said it was his favorite meal. We spent 2 hours there and it felt like no time at all. Dh ended up with the giant refill and we were teasing my mom that it was for her. We all got the skillet and loved it. We are now planning on making WCC our first day tradition.
