Well, pin trading at your local DS starts at 7:00pm every Tuesday night. I don't know about your store, but mine is disappointing on a regular basis. This evening there were four of us regulars. We're the same people who waited in lines last fall and still meet up every other Saturday morning. Our store does not make us feel welcome, at all. They are friendly enough but one gets the feeling that we are in the way. There is no where to set up a book or look at anyone else's book. The CM who does the trading each week stands in the middle of the store holding a lanyard in each hand. The pins never change, even though some of us have tried to trade park pins to put some life in them. The store is busy enough, with regular customers and some ask questions (not tonight) but I feel that if an area were set for the pins to be displayed, it might draw some attention to it and interest other customers. Our display rack is brimming with an overflow of pins.....the four of us can only buy so many of the same pins. What can we do to encourage other customers to become interested?? How can we get our DS to take an active part in trading? Our trading session was complete by 7:10pm and the CM said "Good! I can put it away." We stood around and discussed pins in general for a few more minutes, said our good-byes and promised to see each other at 10:00am Saturday morning. HELP!!!

I haven't actually attended a Tuesday nite trade at our local DS here in sunny St. Petersburg, FL, but I have inquired about it on several occassions. One of the store managers, who knows me by name (do you think because I'm in there so much?) rolls her eyes whenever I bring up the subject. She says typically there is 0-3 people, typically the same ones, who turn out. Stay 15-20 mins. and depart. I've heard this same mgr. say on several occassions that she'll be glad when this "pin thing" is finally over. It may be over sooner than later at the DS, but is still going strong at WDW and DTD. With that all said...wanna trade? Check out my traders and wants on pinpics: disneyboysmousehouse.

I always forget about it...

We have the same 4 or 5 folks...but we still have a great time. Occasionaly there are few that come and visit.

We have been lucky since at least one of the group has been to WDW and picks up pins. We also have a pressed quarter and penny swap going.

We feel pretty welcome at the store. They figure, better to have folks in the store making it look lively than no one at all. And generally, one of us will buy SOMETHING.

in Omaha.
I went to pin trading night tonight -- HOPING for a miracle. First time I have been in over a month.
There is NO ONE coming. They aren't even 100% sure where the lanyards are anymore.:(
There is no reason to get them out in Omaha. :(
The last two pin Saturdays I have had to remind them to bring the pins out to sell. They don't take my word for it and call the lincoln store to double check.
But the one CM tonight said she opens Saturday and is aware there are pins to sell this Saturday. But wouldn't offer any info on how many, etc. :(
Barrel o' pin fun at TDS here, I'll tell ya. ;)

Does anyone have any ideas that we could implement to increase the chance of success of pintrading at the DS? Who should we contact to help??

Pin trading is practically non-existant at the Meriden, CT store. I have heard it is fairly good at the West Farms mall but I work until at least 8pm (last night it was 8:35 as 2 of the basketball games went in to OT) and the Meriden Square is only 5 minutes from work. Also last night I forgot to bring my pins with me And it would have been after 9 by the time I got home, got the pins, and got to the store. I will try again next week.

As for what might help trading at TDS....how about preview pins that can only be traded for a month before they are released?

You might try what our Chicago Ridge DS is doing. Trading is welcomed with open arms with a table and donut holes on the first Tuesday of each month. Every week is probably a bit much.

There were only four of us yesterday, but last month there were about eight to ten people.

Figment2 - sounds like a sucess at the store you go to.

nobody comes to our store anymore. we don't always get the pins that are supposed to be released on the given Saturday of the month. the activities at the store you go to probably happen because there are a lot of traders in the area. how many cm are on duty - that really makes a difference.
