I haven't seen reviews of the new Star Tours since it reopened earlier this year. How is it compared to the old Star Tours?

The ride itself was pretty similiar to the original ride (motion simulator), just now with 3D effects. I've always had a hard time focusing on 3D movies, so that might be part of the problem, but I really couldn't tell very much was 3D. One little boy in the ride commented to CM that it was really cold in the simulator. The CM responded that it was to help with motion sickness.

We had FP, so the wait time was very short. I'd do it again with a FP, but I wouldn't wait in a 45+ minute line for it.

The following is a quick review I did for a Star Wars Collecting forum I belong to:

I just got back from Orlando with my family. We spent a week at WDW. Of course Star Tours was very high on the list for attractions to do. I ended up riding ST seven times throughout the week. However for a random experience for what planets I would get while riding I kept feeling like I was in some Groundhog Day like sequence when I kept going on and very little had changed:

1) Stormtrooper/Falcon Intro->Hoth->Leia->Battle of Coruscant
2) Stormtrooper/Vader Intro->Hoth->Ackbar->Battle of Naboo
3) Stormtrooper/Vader Intro->Tatooine->Leia->Battle of Naboo
4) Stormtrooper/Falcon Intro->Hoth->Leia->Battle of Coruscant
5) Stormtrooper/Vader Intro->Hoth->Ackbar->Battle of Naboo
6) Stormtrooper/Falcon Intro->Hoth->Leia->Battle of Coruscant
7) Stormtrooper/Falcon Intro->Hoth->Leia->Battle of Coruscant

The ride itself was lots of fun from start to finish., From walking through the queue and seeing all the details (the interplanetary arrivals/departures screen/the Mon Calamari flight controls/R2 & 3PO Banter around the Speeder and the Security Droids) to the preflight movie I was totally impressed.

There were no lines and the longest I think we ever waited to board was 5 minutes,

The video on the ride was very crisp and the 3D was what you would expect it to be..good. Although I thought the 3D at Mickey's PhilharMagic was better. In the Mickey's PhilharMagic attraction it seemed to had stood out better than Star Tours as the action wasn’t moving as fast so you got to appreciate it more. In Star Tours everything is happening so quickly that I think some of the 3D gets lost in the process.

The Mos Espa Traders (aka gift shop) was nothing to write home about as a collector. However they were doing a brisk business and I did end up picking up a few misc. items (Snow globe, coffee mug and a Donald Duck figure as Bespin Han with Carbonate slab) One of my kids bought the light up R2D2 that makes the R2 noises as its head spins around.

I bought one of the exclusive Star Tours figures sets for a friend and almost bought one for me (The Travel Agency set) but at $40 I decided against it.

For those of you who are sticklers about continuity I am going to paraphrase a line from the intro from the old MST3K show:

“If you're wondering how the attraction fits into continuity
and other Star Wars science-fiction facts (la la la),
Then repeat to yourself, "It's just a ride,
I should really just relax
For it’s Star Tours 2.0!"

(The same can also be used to calm those down about the Blu-ray changes. It’ll be alright, no need for the vein throbbing from the forehead routine).

A very fun time on Star Tours 2.0 but my favorite attraction was Toy Story Mania. Now that was fun and really made me feel like a kid again.

The lead up to the shuttle is more-or-less the same as it was before, the pilot though was replaced by 3PO and there are required 3D glasses this time.

The Visual effects are far superior. I loved the new version. Although, I too have experienced only a couple different destinations even though I have ridden it over 10 times. It makes me doubt the claimed number of combinations.

I'm not a Star Wars fan and I'm not sure if I've even seen the entire movie--or are there multiple movies?? Anyhow, we did the ride last week and I couldn't stand it. My five year old absolutely hated it too. My husband (who likes Star Wars although he isn't a Star Wars mega fan) liked it and so did my seven year old (who hasn't seen the movie).

Honestly though, if there is anyone else out there like me who hasn't seen the movie--the ride likely is a waste of your time. I know there likely aren't many of us out there...but just thought I'd mention this.

They are all there - I've ridden 7 times and have experienced all of the different elements. I've only had Kashyyk and Yoda once each, though. That's at Disneyland and not WDW, but the ride is supposed to be identical in both places.

I wonder if it works? I'm a total puker and can get by on most things with some Bonine, but I'm a little nervous about Star Tours.

I went on ST 3 times this past weekend. Hated the first time. Loved the second time. Was ok with the 3rd variation.

I've seen all 6 movies, but don't consider myself a huge fan. The first ride was disappointing as it was the stormtrooper (no rebel spy was chosen, just a generic alien photo) - Falcon opening - Princess Leia - Tatooine pod race - traffic on Coruscant.

Second time we got Darth (chose a little kid to be the rebel) - Hoth AT-AT battle - Princess Leia - Naboo underwater chase and that was awesome!

My last ride was stormtroopers (chose a little kid to be the rebel again) - Hoth AT-AT battle - Admiral Ackbar - traffic on Coruscant.

I suspect the lightsaber in my avatar picture gives my answer away, but I love it. I've been the Rebel spy a couple of times.

I liked the ride, but was expecting more. After riding the Simpson's ride at Universal, Star Tours left me wanting more. Out of the 6 of us that went to Disneyland/Universal, 4 said Simpson's ride was there favorite of all the rides. Also wanted to add that anyone that hasnt seen the King Kong portion on the trolly ride in Universal, SEE IT. The King Kong portion of this ride was AWESOME. Dont get me wrong, Disneyland still beats Universal hands down, but Star Tours could have been much better. Just my 2 cents.

It was a lot more fun than the old one. It's over pretty quick though. Wish it lasted a bit longer.
My favorite part was the beginning, we had a spy and Darth shows up and shakes the whole shuttle around like a rag doll which cracked me up.
We got the pod race and everyone cheered on the shuttle like they never get to see it.
3D is real good. They use a more advanced version of it but movement is quick and things go by so fast I don't think people have a chance to appreciate it except maybe at the end sequence. Also the screen is small but part of the ride element so 3D just doesn't have that larger than life/all encompassing feel. It does give it a more you're actually there feel than the original though.
I guess the proof is in the pudding if it is a better ride or not. I probably rode the original ride maybe 5 times total, everyone else commenting in here seems to have done way more than that already and it's only been out a few months.
