I know about the possible interaction, but really want to know if it is worth leaving MK for, or I should just go with safe bets like Kona?

I can deal with not spectacular food (ie Chef Micky's,) but I don't want to travel for a stomach ache! (lots of puddles of grease, and not a lot of flavor.)

I have never made it there, so please give me your experiences.

TIA!:flower3:

I think the food is fantastic we eat there every trip

The food is not spectacular, but is edible.

We have dined there several times, once for dinner and once for lunch.
To me it's standard Disney food, good , but nothing really memorable.
We go there mostly for the atmosphere.

We haven't been to Whispering Canyon in about 5 years but we're going back during our upcoming June trip so I hope the food is good. :goodvibes

How is the atmosphere? We are trying it for the first time in May. We want to check out the resort too.

I too was wondering how Whisp Canyon was-it is the lunch stop for the Backstage Magic Tour I have scheduled for late March. I think I'm just excited about going to Wilderness Lodge-I've never been there!

I've seen a lot of positive and negative reviews for the food at WCC, but it is one of our favorite places. Plus visiting the lodge is cool as well.

NOW is does not compare with Kona's as that is just wonderful for any meal :worship: BUT is way better than Chef Mickeys by far:thumbsup2

I've been for both breakfast and lunch, both were equally good! The CM who was taking care of us was a riot!

During lunch, the chicken was soo moist and delicious and the corn bread OH MY GOODNESS GRACIOUS! It was light and fluffy, kinda like cake but not dry. Hard to describe I just know I want more! The mashed potatoes ranked right up there for me too!

Breakfast has some of the same offerings as say O'hana and it's every bit as good (talking about the skillet here as I didnt order off the menu). The eggs were light and fluffy, same with the biscuts. Bacon was just the way I like it, hot and crispy.

The only way to know if it is worth it is to try it for yourself, but in this case you are asking us. Is it worth it? No. Food salty and greasy. Service sporadic. Entertainment gimmick is sporadic, inconsistent and stale. Kona on the other hand, for us, a solid performer for over a decade. GF Cafe is another solid performer too.

Our Ratings of Whispering Canyon:
. . . food price value: C
. . . food quality: C
. . . food quantity per serving: A (skillets)
. . . food prep speed: B
. . . food selection: C
. . . seating quantity: C
. . . seating comfort: C
. . . eatery atmosphere: C
. . . eatery convenience: B
. . . staff friendliness: B+
. . . staff helpfulness: C
. . . character interaction: n/a

NOTE: The eatery is known for its comic antics with the
guests. The amount of antics is based upon guest and server
interaction. The food is good and plentiful, but only average
in quality. However, the endless milkshakes are tasty and ample
enough to give even someone with a hollow leg a brain-freeze.
Other than antics, nothing for which you to go out of your way.

ITA with this post.

The only time I will eat here now is if we are staying at WL because it's hard for my kids to walk past it every day and not want to eat there. We have NEVER had a fun or entertaining server (we've eaten there seven times so not like we haven't given it a chance!) so eating lousy food and watching other people have fun around us while we're ignored doesn't make for a fun time for us.

WOW!!!!!...So much reactionpopcorn:: I am both intrigued and scared!

I suppose we could go for a shake and snack, so as to see and decide.

Thanks everyone for your thoughts!

We had a fantastic breakfast there in October. I had the cinnamon French toast and it was yummy - but sweet. I can't remember what everyone else had. Our server was a complete riot - we had a blast and it was one of my favorite meals. I do think we would have been a bit disappointed if our server wasn't so great.

I only had a adr there last time for my DS16. They have all you can drink milk shakes. We all ordered the skillet. Honesty I didn't think I would like it, But I loved the food. And it was loads for fun. DS16 got into "trouble" for picking on my friends little girl. The waitress made him sing I'm a little tea pot" He was a good sport and did it. We can't wait to go back.

I've only eaten there once and while I found the lack of server interaction/entertainment a little disappointing I thought the skillet was very good. Definitely better food than Chef Mickey, actually a lot better than a good many of our dinners at the world.

I wasn't a big fan of the food but it is definitely fun to watch the CMs singing and hosting games around the restaurant. I do remember loving the chocolate milkshake but other than that, I found the food to be quite greasy.
