Help!! I have a Dilema. We decided to add on to our November trip, so we will now be at WDW for Thanksgiving Day. I need some ideas on where to eat. We will probably be spending the day at Epcot. How is the Garden Grill??? I thought of Le Cellier, but I have little kids, so we wanted some place with decent food, but more casual.

Also, is MK a real nightmare the morning of Thanksgiving?? We thought about going for early entry and then trying to get a PS for Liberty Tree Tavern around 12pm-1pm and then heading over to Epcot.

Any suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks for your help.

The Garden Grille has a great character dinner. We love it but there are some who don't. It's in a revolving (very slowly) restaurant in the Land. It is served family style and it starts with bread and salad with veggies grown in the Land. Then a skillet of steak, chicken, fish, more veggies from the Land, stuffing, and potatoes (kids can get mac & cheese and chicken fingers, I think). Mickey, Chip & Dale, and Pluto are there ~ the first three in Farmer Gear. We love it and the characters spend quite a bit of time with you. Have Fun!

Love the Garden Grill. I eat there at least once on each trip to Disney.

The Fried Catfish is wonderful. The steak is very good too. It comes with Bread, Stuffing, Mash Potatoes and Gravy, and Vegetables. Its all you can stuff in (eat). ;)
Dessert is included with the meal too.

Kids are given Chicken fingers, Mac and Cheese and something else. They can eat your stuff too.
For Dessert they get A cup of dirt.

The Character interaction is fabulous. Chip, Dale, Mickey and Pluto all come around to your table while you are eating.

Hi was there 6/11 for DD 2 year old birthday and thought is was great. Though the restaurant was busy from the outside once inside it seemed very relaxed. They treated K like a princess. Though I would have hapily given her part of my dinner they brought her out a whole serving of the children's meal plus a small cake for her birthday. Charector interaction was wonderful they focused all their attention on K and she loved it. Definately will do again.

We didn't like it at all. Catfish - ewwwww! The chicken was all dark meat and really slimy. The potatoes tasted funny. The other veggies were the best thing on the table. Even the bread was weird. Definitely a "never again" for us. I hope you have a better experience than we did, I know alot of people like it there.:D

We've enjoyed it all three times we've eaten there, most recently Dec 2002. I would recommend it even if it weren't a character meal. I find the food to be excellent but basic American-style food, IMO significantly better than the dinner at Liberty Tree Tavern. If you don't want something (e.g. catfish), you can always ask your server not to bring it. You can ask for more of anything (except possibly dessert), so you won't go away hungry.

(Non-alcoholic) beverages are included, and you can have more than one if you wish! Last year I ordered diet coke and lemonade.

Holiday meals at WDW restaurants are often a special arrangement. The menu may be somewhat different and/or they may require a credit card deposit. And PS's may go quickly, so be sure to call very close to 90 days (new policy). In the past there has been a special Thanksgiving dinner at the Yacht Club convention center. You may want to ask what special dinners if any are available before making up your mind.
