How is the food at CRT?

I am wondering how the food is at CRT and is it really worth it? Or are you really paying for the experience in the castle and to meet the princesses? There are so many great restaurants at WDW that I almost don't necessarily want to waste the money if CRT food is just average. I know my daughter would enjoy it but we can do other meet and greets to see princesses and just do the BBB experience, which i feel she would enjoy more. I also don't think my older twin boys will be too into the princesses.

If you were only going for the food -- would it be one of your top choices?

You are paying for the experience. Reviews on the food tend to be mediocre and nothing special. I, personally, would skip it.

We thought the food was okay. It was kind of "wedding catering fancy," which is to say pretty tame, but decently prepared and nicely plated. Nothing to blow your mind.

The food is not the reason for going - it is all about eating in the castle with the princesses. My DD was 6 and DS was 9 when we ate there and they both enjoyed it. Boys get swords and girls get wands. We also did BBB beforehand for my DD and she hated the hairstyle she picked (Rock Diva). We are going next month and aren't doing either one this time.

I thought it was pretty good, I had heard so many reports of mediocre food we were pleasantly surprised. As stated for sure you are paying for the experience, while not our favorite meal of the trip it was a good meal.

We were pleasantly surprised by how good the food was on our visit this year. I mean don't get me wrong you are definitely paying for the experience of eating in the castle, but it's worth it to do it at least once!

Yeah. If you're a foodie, you will be disappointed. If you go in expecting nicely plated food that wouldn't surprise you at a business banquet or wedding dinner, you'll be fine.

Also: There is no booze.

Food was bad, so you would think your paying for the experience... nope. DD really didn't like it. Princess Breakfast in Epcot was a much better experience for the princesses and the food.

We had a lovely experience and an adequate meal. It was nowhere near the best food we had at WDW, but it was a special mother/daughter meal with my best girl.

I'm in the minority, but I think the food is good. That being said, you are paying for the experience--not the food. My husband and I dine there every trip, at least once, but it is more sentimental for us--we got engaged there, and he remembers eating there with his family before his dad passed.

I'm with you. We went earlier this month and really enjoyed it!!

If your child is collecting autographs and/or photographs with princesses, then your time is worth something too.

CRT is a lovely experience and the room is magical.

We haven't been yet, I have a reservation for me and my daughter in December. I decided just to have the two of us go and not the rest of the family because a) it's expensive, and b) the boys wouldn't be as into it. My daughter has LOVED princesses her whole life (she's 5, almost 6) and I know she's going to go crazy there. So for me, it doesn't matter as much what the food tastes like to see her face! :)

1) If she loves princesses, go to Akershus in Epcot.
2) Same, or better "Princess Experience", and at 1/2 the price.

We had lunch again there on Saturday. We were happy with our meals. Food was good. We've had 2 or 3 horrible akershus dinners so we're done with dinners there. (Trying akershus breakfast on Friday) We've never had any issues at CRT which is why we keep eating there.

You do it for the experience although the food has always been decent when we've gone. Not worth the price but we've never left hungry.

We've done it three times since it's DD's only must do and she's only little once. Well she keeps asking for it. I want to skip it so bad and try something new but she thinks I'm nuts. Last trip just us two did it and the boys did CS and to the pool.

Agree w/ the others - it's more for the experience. My DD & I went for breakfast and the food was okay but nothing to write home about. However, getting to eat IN THE CASTLE was a dream! We loved it! Actually, DD & I had our own girls' breakfast there and Dad and the boys went to Crystal Palace for some male bonding over bacon and Eyeore. :) I would definitely recommend it for the experience alone, although I have heard others really enjoyed Akershus in EPCOT more.
