question is in the title. dbf may suffer through a princess meal for me, so i want to be sure that he will be fed well. we will try to get lunch reservations so we can go to chefs de france for dinner, which is a must for us.

I don't care for the food at Alkershus for lunch and dinner but perhaps Norwegian is not my thing. Some people love the food. I am just not one of them.

I prefer to eat breakfast there.

First time we went there in Dec 09 we loved it. We went there again in Dec 10 and the main course wasn't as good, but I still really enjoyed the buffet appetizers..... With that, I still wanted to make reservations for our upcoming trip (its a character meal, so to me, its not about the food) but DH refused.

I should also add, that we went for dinner both times, never lunch. I don't know if they serve the same or not... You should check out the menus at www.allears.com

For some the food is really tasty, but we have tried dinner twice and well..we're not planning on going back. It just wasn't for us. Now we do like all kinds of food and one of our favorite Epcot restaurant is Biergarten. We just did not care for our entrees, but we did really like offerings on the cold board. But like I said, some people really love the food here.

hmm. is it worth going then? through the trip, we will have chef mickey's, crystal palace, and then this character meal. if we dont go to akershus, we will go to le cellier for lunch and chefs de france for dinner (or chefs de france for lunch and coral reef for dinner)

I second this. The dinner was awful, my friend and husband agreed-worst meal I've ever eaten. I promise it reminded us all of a tv dinner. With that being said my daughter was 4 at the time and loved the princesses so that was worth it just to see her so happy. I would go with breakfast though.

Skip Akershus; the food is so much better in so many other restaurants in Epcot.

For a Princess meal that he would more likely enjoy, go to 1900PF for dinner one other day during your trip. You get Cindy and her Prince but you also get Lady Tremaine and the Stepsisters. This is as close as Disney gets any more to a Villain meal, and they really stay in character. I think it's the most fun character meal for adults. It is a buffet but I understand that Chef TJ, who is one of the very best chefs at Disney, is currently overseeing the GF kitchens so the food is quite good.

I must agree with the majority here, we did not like Akershus. I will agree with the last poster, 1900 PF is nice. We've done breakfast and dinner there.

We had a fabulous breakfast there.

Then again, we also love 1900 PF.

We really enjoy the food at Akerhus. We LOVE that the kids can order real food. My DD loves salmon and it was such a treat for her to be able to order it. My only [minor] quibble is that my kids [having a mean mom that forces them to share everything ] prefer to have "their own" food when we go out to eat... and that goes double for desserts. Family style desserts are not their fave!

They used to have good food at Akershus. Now they have Princesses.

Everyone is different but for me it was horrible. I took my DD12 there last year and the meal cost over a hundrd bucks and we had to leave there and go pay more $ for real food. The good thing about it was that we got a nice picture included with the cost and the princess came to the table but I was hoping for some yummy food.

I guess we're in the minority here, but we've eaten at Akershus for lunch and dinner and for the most part really liked the food. The appetizer buffet with the cheese, cold cuts, seafood, etc. were a huge hit for our kids (2 and 5). The only thing I would not order from their menu is the kjottkake.

We have only ever eaten breakfast there but it is delicious!!! We preferred the breakfast food here to the breakfast food at CRT.

It's a matter of personal taste. Read the menu before you decide and figure out if you will like it. Pretty simple, really.

I like the entree items but really like the cold buffet, my official Favorite Food Thing at WDW.

Do not get turned off to Akershus! we went with twin boys in January for dinner. I expected to hate the food but my dh and I really liked our meal. I had the mushroom ravioli. i don't even like mushrooms - and loved it. But all we cared about was meeting the princesses - and it was very worth it. we got an awesome picture with Belle and met Ariel, Aurora, Snow White and Cinderella. We may go back for breakfast.

Yep!

We LOVE LOVE LOVE the cold board. Meats, cheeses, seafood, herring!!!, salads. Yum!

I love the plated food, too. I am all about Scandinavian cooking! We all loved it, actually. But, the menu has been dumbed down to fit "American palates". Sickening, really. A Norwegian restaurant should be able to serve good Norwegian food....not sub par because little Suzy wants to see Belle, but won't eat anything "different".

I vote for the princess meal to be MOVED and allow the good food back in :)

I agree. I ate here because I really wanted to try Norwegian food and was a little bothered that they had turned it into a princess meal! What are the princesses doing in Norway anyway?
