Hello All,
I'm planning a vacation to the world the last week in August, sort of a mini family reunion with 5 adults and 5 kids. We were planning on seeing fantasmic but I read a mini-review on Deb's all ears web site saying that it wasn't that great and not worth the hours wait. Since it was only 1 opinion I wanted to get other views. :scratchin . We are planning on reserving the fantasmic dinner package so the wait wouldn't be as long but I still wanted to see who liked and who didn't. The childrens ages range from 7-15 so I know they won't be afraid of it. (I read it may be a little too intense for small children)
Thanks

Please, please, please see Fantasmic for yourself! When I saw it first back in 2000 I was instantly impressed and it became a favorite of mine. It is visually spectacular, the music is great (I wake up to it every morning :goodvibes ), and has tons of character appearances. There is no other show like it in "The World" and for me it is a MUST DO for every trip. If you love the magic that is Disney, then you will love this show... :rainbow:

Our family's (dh & me - 36, ds - 13) verdict: it's worth seeing once, but we don't need to do it again. Ds had really high expectations (dh and I had seen it long ago, but had never managed to get ds to it 'til last trip) but he said he was really kind of disappointed. I've heard that Disneyland's version blows WDW's away. :(

I think you will find it very entertaining unless it is so hot and humid that you are longing for A/C. It is nice to be able to sit and see the show as compared to Wishes or Illuminations where you are standing.
The water wall screens are great - in late August you might want a front row seat so that you get sprinkled with each breeze.
The show has a great message - nothing is more powerful than your imagination so don't let others try and control it. This show is one of my favorites that I try to see it every trip.

I have just 2 words for you: SEE FANTASMIC!!! It is absolutely an AMAZING show. I just love it.

Fantasmic is by far one of my top 3 things at Disney! Whenever we have out of town guests with us at WDW, we make sure that this show is one of the things on the "must do" list. No one has ever been disappointed. I love the visual effects, the music - just everything, and it continues to bring tears to my eyes at the finale!!

We LOVE it!! None of my kids (3,6 & 9) were scared. We just saw it again Sunday night and afterwards my DD3 said she wanted to see it again!

It's kind of funny... On my past two trips my favorite of the night time shows was Illuminations (I always try to catch at least one of the shows every night I'm at WDW, sometimes I get lucky and see two of them the same night by park hopping). Last week, for some reason, Fantasmic was my favorite of the three (and it and Illuminations were pretty much the same as my last trip there).

It is a great show. :thumbsup2

Fantasmic is fantastic! It's not to be missed. :thumbsup2

For our money, Fantasmic is the best show at WDW. Our trip (IN 8 DAYS!!!) is with some friends who've never been there. So we're starting with the MK, and ending with F!.

And I would definitely encourage you to get the dinner package. It's a special little thrill to be able to skip the line and sneak in the back way. We're at Mama Melrose's, and we're eating at like 3:30 (which will give us plenty of time to squeeze some rides in between dinner and the show).

Have fun!

I didn't know there was a message! How do those guys that swing around on the ropes fit into it? Perhaps I'd have liked it better if I'd known what the heck was going on.

For the OP, while we love Illuminations and adore Wishes, Fantasmic bores everyone in our group and is one thing we can all agree on skipping!
:)

I am a 47/yo man...was there last week..have been to DW 8-9 times...still my absolute favorite thing at DW...brought tears to my eyes..anyone that says they do not love fantasmic needs to stay at Universal!!!

Fantasmic is in my totally unbiased :lmao: the best show at WDW. I never miss it and would stand in line for 3 hours to see it. But that is me, you have to see it for yourself at least once, then make your own opinions about it. :teeth:

I am glad I saw it but we don't bend over backwards to see it again. My 5yo is extra sensitive to loud noises and if she doesn't want to go, we don't go. I'm not trying to tell you it's overly loud, because it's not. She really is that sensitive. Normal people have no trouble with the sound level.

I think if there are those in your party that have not seen it, you should definitely see it.

It is absolutely fantastic! DH and I saw it last year for the first time. I felt like a little kid and was totally caught up in the show. We did the dinner package w/ H&V, so didn't have to wait in the line.

Fantasmic is the best show on property next to Illuminations. If you don't want to wait, do the dinner package.
