How is the DVC Christmas Tree pass going?

Hey, I can't find the original thread, so can someone tell me ho this whole tree pass worked? It sounds wonderful, despite the passing problems!

wdwstar has graciously organized the whole thing this year, so she is the expert. I believe last year a tree was brought or sent down by one family and passed through all the families staying at the resort until the end of the holidays. I can't remember exactly but I think this may have occurred at the BWV. So many thought it was a great idea earlier this year that many of us wrote in that were to be at WDW for the holidays and agreed to join in this year. I volunteered to purchase the BCV tree and send it down. I sent it down the end of November to the first family. When they checked out they left it at the bell desk for the next family, and so on. The last family at the BCV checks out on New Years Eve so they will send it back to me. We each put a few dollars in the tree box to help with shipping. At the other resorts there have been more than one tree. wdwstar organized the lists and contacted everyone to get this together. It was finalized around the first of November this year.

We .were supposed to p/u a SSR tree 12/26 I've checked every day and still haven't located it. At this point I'm more concerned with locating it to ship back to it's home so any info leading to it's location would be helpful -- we chek out Saturday

Sorry to hear that :( I dropped the tree off at 10:00 am on the 11th at bell services. I also got a postcard from the next family on the list, so it was found. There was an gift for each family for magicalmcwho from SSR Tree # 2. PM me with you address and Ill send it your way, if it makes it back to me with the tree.

I wanted to Thank Shane for the nice ornament! Our DD made some ornaments and took them along. She left a few with the tree so your family could have them.

WDWstar Thanks for handling the tree swap organization. It made the room a little more Christmassy!

We just got home last night. I hope you were not the family after us. We had folks by the name of Johnson after us. We dropped off the tree at bell services 12-24-04 @ 8:30 am. They seemed to know what they were doing. I hope ShaneV received their tree back.

I felt badly for the families that missed out on the tree passing. We received our tree when we checked in and I assumed the family after us would have no problems either.

Actually the ornaments are from magicalmcwho who was involved with the other SSR tree. Very nice of them indeed :)

Is everyone checking at bell services are at the front desk? I think we should be checking at bell services as its consdered luggage.

I just spoke with bell services; they have a tree for the Johnson's so I'm going to assume thats the tree we were to get and make sure it gets back to it's home; thanks for the info that helped me track it down. Have a Happy New Year!

Thank goodness! Enjoy the tree for the rest of the time you have it! Have a wonderful New Year's! :grouphug:

Have any of the trees made it home?

I was in Krogers yesterday and saw the type of tree that we had at the BWV and for the price, I just had to buy it, and yes, I have it lit in my kitchen until it's time to take all the decorations down. I told DH there was a surprise on the counter, and he recognized the type right away. Another reminder of our great time at BWV, as if we need more reminding!

Thanks again for this exchange.

The tree arrived VIA UPS yesterday infact. Essentialy the treewas ok, but the indivual ornaments with each families names, well lets just say... not all of them survived!

Thanks so much to you and your sister for all the kind notes.
and to those who lefts gifts for us Thanks again! It was alot of fun to particiapte again this past year!

Lauren

I have not received mine yet. I was just beginning to wonder when it would make it home.

:guilty: Sorry the ornaments didn't make it! I didn't realize that we were the last folks with the tree soon enough  . We were only there Friday night until Monday morning. A real whirlwind trip that was awesome!!

Anyhoo, the guest services desk wouldn't take the tree and mail it but sent us to the Convention area business center. Real nice lady down there. We had 30 minutes to get the tree there, print boarding passes and catch our towncar back to the airport! :moped: The business center doesn't open until 8:00 am. But she said she would get it out no problem.

So unfortunately the little ornaments suffered :guilty: but glad the tree arrived safe and sound.

We had COLD and RAINY weather the days we were there and hubby decided the light strand would do quite well decorating the tv area :earboy2:

It was nice to have a tree since we did not put one up at home. Thank you so much for organizing this and making so many people happy. I loved my little bag of chocolates! Dove into those right off :)

we really enjoyed having the tree. i will mention that there was some confusion when we tried to pick up the tree. bell services didn't now anything about the tree...later that night we found out that the front desk had it, so we still had plenty of time to enjoy it. i'm not sure if we got things mixed up, or if BWV did.

Don't be silly! I should have told you guys to take your family ornament. Somehow I flaked out on telling everyone they could do that!

I hope the money in the envelope was enough to cover your shipping expenses back! Glad you enjoyed the tree, Lauren

We wanted to say thank you again Lauren for sharing your tree. We got so much enjoyment from it! We've decided not to do a Disney trip next December :worried: and DD's first words were "Hey, then we can't be part of the tree sharing" We will really miss that.

And thank you to WDWstar for putting in all the time and effort to make everybody happy!

I agree WDWstar was so great about getting the tree swap organized. Thanks! :grouphug:

I am finally Home(not my dvc Home) , sad to say ! after adding a few days onto the end of our trip and getting bumped from our flight back home and had to add on a few more days, i know poor me........
i can finally report that i did get my christmas tree back. the tree was in my room before i even got up to the room along with df as he was adding the beautiful ornaments that were left with the tree. Thank you to all that left me an ornament that was very kind of you, thank you !

as for the tree that i had reserved for my brother, bell service could not find it at check in, then the next evening i receive a message that two packages were waiting for me, it was very late so i decide to go down in the morning.
well then the next morning they could not find the two packages or even that a message was left for me. hhmmm....... that evening dsis on her way up to the room checked one more time and was told since we didnt pick the two packages up when we checked in, the two packages were sent to the next family on the list. so the next family i hope you received the tree like the bell service said you did. it was ok that db didnt get the tree as long as it went to the next family and wasnt sitting in the store room, after all the hard work that the dvc families did to get the trees ready and shipped.

Again a BIG THANK YOU to all the DVC FAMILIES that donated the trees for dvc resorts. THANK YOU !

i do have to say when i asked the bell service about the christmas trees as i was going in to check in , a few seemed very angry over the whole tree passing, like it was a big hassel. i then met a very nice woman that was in bell servce , at the outside counter and she knew where the tree was and said she had it in a very special place and the whole tree passing was a great idea and she would take care of the delivering it to my room. well like i said it was in my room before i even got up to my room.

Thank you to all the bell service that went out of their way to help in the tree passing for our dvc families.
