I believe this is 2 TS credits- is it worth it if we can get tickets? It will be us and our 5 yr old DD.

Our Ratings of Luau: (rev 8/22/2013)
. . . food price value: D
. . . food quality: C
. . . food quantity per serving: A
. . . food prep speed: B
. . . food selection: C
. . . seating quantity: B
. . . seating comfort: C
. . . eatery atmosphere: B
. . . eatery convenience: C
. . . staff friendliness: B
. . . staff attentiveness: B
. . . character interaction: C (performance)

NOTE: The Luau is a play upon the traditional Hawaiian or Pacific luau. However, the
"play" is silly at best and sub-par when compared to any authentic luau. If you never
plan upon attending a true luau, then this would suffice. If you have done a real luau
or will in the future, leave this unattended. As for the food: salad was OK -- bread was
OK -- chicken was average -- ribs were good -- rice and veggies were flavorless. Overall,
not worth the cash price or 2-TS coupons.

No:( Definitely not worth the two dining credits. Why don't you try to get an adr at Hoop Dee Doo instead?

Agreed.

LOVE HDDR. Went to the luau once and felt that it was a waste of money (paid out of pocket). Some aspects of the show are cool, but overall it was a disappointment, including the food.

The luau used to be one of my favorite things to do at Disney World. Loved the food and the show. But we went last year for thanksgiving and they changed the menu and I was very disappointed in the food and they changed the show and it is now lame, more of a skit or play than a luau. I would not waste 2 table service credits on it. If the HDDR is the same I would recommend it for a dinner show instead or would use the 2 TS credits at a signature restaurant like California Grill or something like that.

I guess everyone is different. We went last week and loved it! I loved our seats, Cat. 2, the food, the interaction with the kids, the show, the music, etc. of course, it was our first time and we have never been to HDDR so I have nothing to compare it to. But, i think it is worth it.

As the pp said, everyone's opinion is different. We did the luau and loved it. We thought the food was good and while the show was a little cheesy in parts, the fire dancers at the end were amazing. We were on the DDP at the time, but chose to pay OOP for tier 1 seating and I'm glad we did. We had great seats right up front by the stage. The luau isn't something we would do every trip, but I can see us going back again sometime as we enjoyed it.

Yes, I think the Luau is either love it or hate it. I haven't read very many "it was ok" reviews.

We love it. We go every year now. Unless it's raining. I didn't enjoy it AT ALL on the one time when it rained. But I would be disappointed if I missed it.

I seriously don't understand what the complaint about the show being a "skit" is about. Everything at Disney is a kitschy skit pretty much. I guess they must think when they're on the Jungle Cruise that that's actually REAL..... And those characters, yeah, they're real too. :confused3

This type of question is always tricky. I still ask these kind of questions myself, but it is tricky. Because everyone is truely in an individual and everyone looks at the world differently.

Here's my take on it...

We enjoyed it a lot when we went. The food was very good, the seating is really good (you can see good from anywhere), the actors if you will were not good but their dancing was very beautiful to watch. Some excitement when the one performer works with fire. I think I remember my kids got leighs but that might have been O'Hana, I am not sure.

If you have never done it, I say try it once. If you only have those two TS credits and want to do a dinner show, I would say to do HDD.

Good luck :)

We went to the Luau for the 1st time on September 7th. I have to say we really enjoyed it and would do it again. We used 2 TS credits for it and thought that was worth it. As other people have said, you will get a wide range of opinions on the luau. I say, if you haven't tried it before, give it a try. You might find that you really enjoyed it.
