How is Teppanyaki REALLY?

Hi!

My husband LOVES hibachi places, while I find that the food is rather boring and not worth the price (and I haven't been excited by the "show" since I was 12).

So how does Teppanyaki compare to most hibachi places? Better, worse, or the same? Does it feel any more interesting because it's at Disney, or is it just like going to Benihana?

Thanks!

If you close your eyes you will not be able to tell it isn't your local Benihana. Food tastes the same, smells the same, things sound the same.

It's good, but if you have a Benihana at home, try something you can't get locally instead IMHO.

Definately not Disney but go for lunch. We ate here in February and as we were waiting for out table the character bus stopped right in front. We had no wait for Goofy, Minnie, Mickey etc. It was great. Plus the food is very good.

A group of 4 of us went there for a celebration dinner and really liked it. Great service and food. I found it to be cheaper than Benihanas (at least the one in LA) and definitely comparable in taste (a good thing, IMO).

As for the comment above "try something you can't get locally at home" I think that most people outside of small towns can get any type of ethnic / international food at home, but that wouldn't stop me from going to the Mexican restaurant, or the Steakhouse, or wherever else while at WDW.

I ate here by myself a couple years ago and thought in general it rated decent. I am sure it would be more fun with the family or a friend. We had a fairly quiet, well mannered group of strangers at our table. I ordered the chicken and steak. It came with vegetables which were sliced onions, carrots, celery and bean sprouts. He quickly stir fried them and served them and then he cooked the meats while we picked at the vegetables. They were pretty bland and I don't usually eat them without the meat. When the chicken and steak came they were very good. I also had an excellent fruity drink concoction that I don;t remember the name of. I probably won't return unless someone I am with wants to go. There other places I like at World Showcase much more.

We love it. We always go at least once on our trip. Its on the expensive side, but we always leave full. They have very good ice tea... The food was always fresh.

Service is always good. Most of the time we don't even make a PS for it..we just show up and wait. They always need someone to fill out a table that seats 8. Since there are only 3 of us, it helps us get matched at table.

I went to one of our local places and it just didnt seem the same. Maybe its the Disney magic that makes it a little special.
