Has anyone eaten at T-Rex? Just wondering about the environment and the food. Also, has anyone tried the dino-dig? Thanks for all your answers,.

My mother and I ate there the weekend it opened. We had really good salads...I think the omnivore, mine with chicken, hers with shrimp. Since it was opening weekend, the service was haphazard. Twice they seated people at the table next to us and both times the people left because the server never came by.....

The atmosphere is loud just like at the Rainforest Cafe. We were seated in the bar area so we really didn't see much of the shows.

I had the omnivore salad (vegetarian) and it was great! The nacho platter was amazing too (an appetizer)!

I've been to the T-Rex here in Kansas quite a few times and if the one at Disney is similar (which I've heard it is), the atmosphere is amazing and the food is ok. :)

At the one here, there's huge fossil replicas outside and a moving dinosaur in a water feature that is catching fish. Inside, you are greeted by a life-size moving female T-Rex right as you go in that is protecting a nest of tiny hatching baby T-Rexes that also move. For seating they have a few different areas, most with either moving dinosaurs or another feature. One is a frozen area with moving mammoths, one is an underwater area with a big fish tank and giant jellyfish, one is a triceratops room, etc. Here, they have never had a problem with us taking a tour of the restaurant on our own and taking pictures with all the different dinosaurs.

My kids are small so we've never done the dino-dig. It looks like something that would be fun for the 5-12 year old age group. Similar to a giant sand box with dinosaur type bones in it. Not sure if you get to keep anything you find. I do know that here you have to pay extra to do it.

The Build-A-Dino store is really neat if you like Build-A-Bear. It has a variety of dinosaurs, including pink ones for any princesses in the family. princess:

They have a "meteor shower" every half hour or so like Rainforest does with their thunderstorms. This can be intense for little guys if they aren't warned in advance. They flash the lights and there are big booms. In the frozen room you can see dinosaurs frozen in the ice only during the shower!

You will be paying for the experience. The food here rates about like an Applebee's or TGIFridays. They do have some cool drinks and desserts.

Hope that helps.

We loved it! I thought it was the most amazing place. The atmosphere is unbelieveable! The "meteror shower" every 10 minutes or so kind of scared the kids but they got used to it quick. (a pp said every 30 minutes but I'm thinking more like 10. It happened about 4 or 5 times while we were there) I think the food was good. DH got a huge burger and he said it was good. I got lasagna and it was excellent. I don't remember much about the kids meals. The one thing I would recommend is to request a seat NOT in the ice room. We were not seated there but I had to walk through there to go to the restrooms and the lighting in there would have given me a headache for sure! I don't know anything about the dino dig but my kids did the build-a-dino and loved it! :)

DD loved it and she had just turned 4. We went to the local Rainforest cafe last weekend and the storm freaks her out. But not the meteors. We also had to explain several times how the meteors killed the dinosaurs. Good times.

Now with Monsters vs. Aliens she wants to get hit by a meteor so she too can be Ginormica! She requested I make a reservation for the dinosaur restaurant this time. And Sci Fi. And Le Cellier. Couldn't get Le Cellier but I did get the other two.

Do we need to get reservations to go? Does the price compare to Rainforest? We saw this being built in the past and never thought to eat there this year. Woo Hoo. Someplace new to go in DTD!

You have to call them directly to make reservations, I called the 407-wdw-dine and they gave me the number for t-rex. You can make res. up to 6 mo. in advance. I don't know if they are necessary but I would make them otherwise I think the waits will be long.

YUM! It was one of the best meals we had at WDW during Christmas. DS had steak and it was great. I had the chicken sandwich on pizza dough which was VERY good. DD had ribs...very good and DH had the chicken which he said was the best he ever had. My chicken was very good in my sandwich.

Atmosphere is fun...loud, but very fun.

:thumbsup2We ate there just after they opened when we went to the fort in oct 08 we loved it yes it's very similar to the rain forest and food and merchandise were like at rain forest also if you like rain forest you would probably like T-Rex also big difference was dino's

We ate there in March. My husband got the ribs and chicken meal and I got the roasted chicken meal. The servings were huge! There was more than enough on the two plates to feed all four of us and we are big eaters! The food was good, but nothing particularly spectacular. It was very similar to the Rainforest Cafe. The atmosphere was awesome though. Both of my children loved it. I really enjoyed the fact that all of the rooms were different. It was fun to wander through the place while we waited for our food. After the meal, we took the kids to play in the boneyard. Its like a sandbox, but filled with really fine pebbles. Both of my children enjoyed taking the brushes that they supplied and pretended to dig for bones. While the restaurant was sort of quiet, the boneyard was pretty full. The children were all well behaved though and mine had a good time. We will likely go back one day.

I have eaten there twice, once in October shortly after they opened and once in December.

I find the menu more appealing at Rainforest...but I would still choose to eat at T-Rex. The atmosphere is awesome.

i am tempted to borrow someone else's children for the dino dig because it looks so fun.

We had very poor service in Mid-March.

The food was pretty good, but we had better food during our week.

We had lunch there the day we arrived in December. It was yummy! I had the ribs and they were without a doubt the best ribs I've ever had!

We have reservations for dinner there on June 12th.
