How is Spirit Airlines?

Hi.

Has anyone here been on or know of someone who has flown Spirit? Are they a good airline? I'm thinking about flying with Spirit Plus seats from Atlantic City to Orlando.

Any opinions (comfort, flight delays, etc.) are greatly appreciated!

Just flew SPIRIT last week from Detroit to Denver (they will no longer be flying into Denver after Sept 1). They fly MD 80s which have the 2/3 seat configuration.

Flights were on time and staff was pleasant.

SPIRIT PLUS is an upgrade to the front of the plane with 2/2 seat configuration.

We felt for the price we paid, it was a good deal. We were able to get our seats and boarding passes on line and there was a short wait to check luggage at DTW.

We did find an unusual situation in Denver, however. They made all pax CHECK all luggage with wheels, including carry-ons. This had us opening our luggage and taking out film. cameras and medications and stuffing my purse to the point I couldn't close it. I have NEVER had to check my wheeled carrryon before!

I have flown from AC airport to Orlando several times on Spirit. I've also flown on other major airlines out of Philly. I have NO problem with Spirit: good prices, quick service, very convenient and close to home. You might have a little less leg room, but it's not a problem. The last time I flew was with DH, DD3 and DS8 months.

Last thing: If you are taking the 7am flight, you DON'T have to check in 3 hours before the flight. We made that mistake last time & we were the only ones there for 1 1/2 hours! An hour and a half ahead is PLENTY of time!

I've flown Spirit out of ACY a few times as well. Never had a problem; flights on time. And the best part? FREE PARKING at the ACY airport!
