Hi there Everyone~

Just wondering if the service has gotten better at Mama Melrose's?

We would like to try it again since our bad experience in August 2005. The food was good but the service was S-L-O-W. Our lunch took almost 2 hours. At the time, the wait staff informed us it was because the DDP was just introduced, so they were a little unfamiliar with it.

Anyway, I am hoping service has gotten better and if it is, we will proabably make an ADR there for lunch.

Thanks for your upcoming reviews :goodvibes

While I often hear mixed reviews on this, we have dined there on just about every one of our trips and usually have very good service. Once, in Dec 06, we had somewhat slow service, but not horrible. It was good again last summer though.

We ate there last week and enjoyed wonderful service. I wasn't in love with the food, it was good, but not great. However, I must say that I am Italian and learned cooking from my grandmother so I have high standards when it comes to Italian food. We probably won't return because we enjoy the atmosphere at Sci Fi and BD better, but we were completely happy with the service.

We have been twice within the last 10 months and have had nonattentive (lousy) service both times. The food was below average and with the service being poor means we will not be back for quite some time. We only went because of the Fantasmic Pkg. We have always found the service lacking at all Disney Studios restaurants with the notible exception of 50's Prime Time. Other than 50's the best place we have been to is the Backlot Express, a counter service restaurant near Star Tours. we do love the snacks at the bookstore and the Villains sweet shop.

Against some advice I got here at the Dis, we went to MM last April. Our service was great and it was one of our family's fave meals. The Sangria rocked, by the way. :wizard:

We went there 2 weeks ago. Service was a little slow, but not horrible. The food was good!

Was there last week. It was crowded, and after being seated 25 mins past our res time, we were waited on promptly & food arrived quickly. I thought the selection was lacking, 2 members of our party got cold food, my food was just OK. Having said that, I live in Chicago, home to the best Italian restaurants outside of Italy, my standards may be a bit high.

DH and I went to Mama melrose in 10/07 for the first time, and won't be going again. Service was stinky, despite the small dinner crowd, and the food was not good at all.

We went this past Oct. , the food was good but service was a bit slow, now I know this is not going to come off nice so please don/t flame me but we figured it was due to the fact that our waitress was OLD, we were not in a rush so we did not mind.

In 2006 when we were there, the service was fine. Seated right away ... waitress was prompt and very helpful! DH enjoyed it so much and since there just wasn't another place I was interested in at the "Studios," we are going again in 2008.

I hope our lunch doesn't take 2 hours!!! ARG!!!!!

but we figured it was due to the fact that our waitress was OLD ...

... OMG ... was she like ... over 30?????????? :lmao: Just teasing ... no flames .... I've had a few waitresses over the years where I thought -- I hope they are doing this because they LIKE it ... I would want to be retired myself (and I am CLOSE to that!)

... don't give me the OLD WAITRESS in 2008 -- I got things to do after lunch! :rotfl2:

We were there in August and we had good service and the food was pretty much on the OK side - I too am Italian!!! But the experience was fine. Give it another wing.

I am almost 10 years older than 30 and this waitress had to be double my age. Again nothing against older people working I just think that maybe the hustling and need to carry large loads at once was to much. On another note I always wonder how they carry those trays loaded , I know I would dump it.

we went last year and the only word i can use is attentive. The guy we had had lived in new york for a bit, divorced his wife (was looking for his next girlfriend), his cousin worked in manchester- UK, he didn't have many friends in florida.....it went on. Very pleasant, but we did hear his entire life story in between courses. Actual service was good, we didn't have much of a wait for the food but drinks service was a little slow.

Thanks for the replies fellow DISers :goodvibes It looks like DH and DDs want to give it another try. It is on our tentative list for next year's trip. I'll let everyone know how it goes. :) Again, thanks for the head's up! :thumbsup2

ask for kevin...he is one of the best servers we have ever had anywhere, Disney or otherwise.

We had lunch there in early Nov. - this was our first time eating at MM. I had read a lot of negative reviews but we wanted to try it for ourselves and give it a chance.

Our server was excellent. We had prompt drink refills when needed and our server stopped by several times to see if we needed anything else. The manager stopped by our table at one point asking how our food and service was and said if we needed anything at all to just let him know. We told him how attentive our server was and he replied she was one of their best.

We thought the food was very good. We really enjoyed our meal and will definitely be going back.

Just ate there last week, service was great. quick, friendly, constant drink refills witohut asking. We were seated within 5 minutes of arrival. We had appetizers, entrees, and dessert. We were out of there in an hour. Any quicker with 3 courses woudl be rushed.

When we went in 2005 we had thebest server of our trip... Her nane was Holly ad I do not remebmber aving better service at home... When we returned on our honeymoon we wee on the Backstage magic tour and had lnch at MM as part of the tour. On my way to he ladies room I bumped into Holly and tod he how glad I was she was til there and how she was the best server we had on that trip and we look forward to having her on our nex trip!!
