We usually head down in May but found it too busy last year so this year we are trying September...has anyone been then? Is it busy?? quiet??? tia

Not busy at all in September. Still very hot and humid with a mid-afternoon thunder storm likely.

September is an awesome time to go. Longest wait I had was 45 mins and that was for Space Mountain right after Wishes (so completely my own fault). If you know how to work it, you shouldn't wait more than 10 minutes for anything..... Plus you have the added bonus of MNSSHP which is definitely worth the extra dough!

Lowest month of the year. ...but hey, it's WDW. Always lots of people there. :)

Yes, this. We are hooked on going in September, but the crowds don't seem small. Still people, people everywhere. Perhaps in comparison to other times of the year the lines are shorter, but I was still surprised at how many people seem to be everywhere. Still one of our favorite times to go, especially for MNSSHP.

First week and after Labor Day is the best time to go, as there are really no crowds at all. The past couple of years though, the end of September has been crowded! I went a couple of years ago and saw pictures from last year and I was surprised. Each year, the crowds just keep increasing.

End of September is great. Low crowds. You may find the restaurants a bit busier because of the free dining promo that usually comes out for that time period. We are heading back 9/24-9/29 this year.

Its terrible in Sept. I wouldn't go then. Ok not really since we always go in either Jan or Sept for the reason of low crowds. But don't tell anyone. :D

DH and I only go in September. 2 years ago crowd didn't seem that bad. Last year was a little more crowded. We thought maybe due to free dining (unsure if it was offered in 2013) Our wait time felt a bit longer.

We went during this time last year and followed the crowd calendars and it felt just like when we've gone in July before. Not sure if we just hit a perfect storm or something
