but with the new ddp the last two times I went was with free dining so this will be the first year without free dining so how crowded will the restaurants be. will I have problems changing restaurants.

I haven't used the DDP, but I read here that the table service restaurants are always crowded. You really should make reservations if you have one you want to eat at. The better ones in the theme parks usually don't allow walk-ins any more, everyone needs a reservation.

You might. I went in early May last year, so not a super busy time, but it was tough to change reservations. We scheduled our ADR's a little early and ended up missing two of them because naptime (dd4) went too long. We tried to reschedule reservations at Boma and Ohana from 6:30ish to 8:30ish. We were told that there were no ADR's available for Boma all week, and Ohana didn't have an ADR open until 9:30. So, we ended up missing Boma and got ADR's for a TS lunch later in the week. That conversation went like this: do you have any ADR's at CP? WCC? Le Cellier? ANYWHERE? There were only three restaurants available out of all four parks and we ended up at LTT (which was suprisingly good). Soooo, you should be able to find someplace to eat if you change last minute, but it may not be your first choice.

depends on the season and the restaurant. people buy the DDP even when it's not free, so you can be sure they're all making ADRs.

if you want to guarantee eating at a particular place, make an ADR.

We've never used the dining plan and we've never had a problem getting reservations. We don't really eat at "normal" times so that helps. And we're a party of two so that might help.

We have been going to WDW appx 3 times a year and this past year is the first time I noticed the TS places to be packed and me having the hardest time making reservations....I think the dining plan has to do with that.
