How is MK on Fri (really)?

I have read here that Fri. is one of the better days for MK, but I find that hard to believe. We were there in early Dec. and the only time we saw big crowds were at MK on a Friday! Has it changed in the past 2 years? To throw in another BIG variable, I am specifically talking about the Fri. of Columbus Day weekend! I am currently planning MK for the Tues. before, but I would really like to see Philharmagic. Would it be crazy to change MK to Friday? Please help, I want to finalize my itinerary and I'm running out of time! TIA

When I went last year it was the day after Thanksgiving. I entered the Magic Kingdom and then left within an hour. The crowds were amazing! I shot over to EPCOT and found it less crowded. The Friday after that, I found the crowds at the MK doable and not that bad. My family went last year Columbus Day week and found it to be pretty crowded at times.
