How is it possible that a place that is geared towards KIDS doesn't have stroller-friendly trams??

Seriously, how could Disney overlook something like this? Is it too much to ask that they have at least one cart per tram either open (cargo) or with seats wide apart enough so that we don't have to literally carry the stroller over our legs?

Do you mean the buses? You are supposed to fold the stroller before you board. On the monorail strollers fit easily in the middle. I've visited WDW with kids for the past 12 years and never had a problem with my stroller on a bus or monorail.

I think she's talking about the trams from the park to the parking lot.

I mean the trams that take you from the parking lot to the parks. Even folded they don't even fit in between the seats. My poor husband had to carry all the weight of our double stroller over his legs.

We always try to get the row that has 2 benches facing each other. It tends to have more room for the stroller.

Not to mention having to fold them on buses and hotels that don't have elevators...

Many buildings in several resorts don't have them I've found. CBR, OKW, POR are a few that I'm aware of.

All of the hotels have to have elevators, isn't that an ADA requirement? They might not be in the most convent places but they are there. Also strollers are much bigger now then they were when the trams were made. I am looking at the stroller that we will be taking to Disney and while it does fold up nicely it is still not small. If you don't like the idea of having to carry the stroller on the tram you could always just walk to the park, rent a stroller from Disney, or take the buses since they are a little bigger.

Yeah, the trams at Bush Gardens have a few rows for strollers on each tram. DH and I were commenting last year that Disney should upgrade. I suppose the sheer number of strollers that come into Disney is a lot more than Bush Gardens. I imagine there would be quite the line for the stroller rows or people would just fold them up anyway to avoid the line.

There are some buildings without elevators in okw . They have ground level rooms.

A lot of the resorts that have separate buildings spread apart don't have elevators in all the buildings. I believe OKW only has an elevator in only two buildings. We were lucky enough to get one on one trip (randomly, not requested). We had rented a toddler bed from an outside agency who had to deliver. They made a comment about how nice it was that there was an elevator and they're used to lugging it all the way up the stairs. Plus, there are ground level rooms like mentioned above. Someone with a disability would be assigned a room in one of those buildings with an elevator or somewhere on the ground floor.

The walk from parking lot to TTC isn't that bad. We don't bother with the tram
We split up this past trip on a DHS day as it was threatening rain and some of my kids were tired. My older boys and I walked with the stroller and the two littles, my wife waited with the 4 middles for the tram. We walked from a far out spot, pushed through DHS security (5 bags and a double stroller) through the gates and then waited 10 minutes for them to make it. Yes this is probably an extreme example, but I found that the walk from all of the parking lots wasn't bad at all this whole trip and I was dreading the loss of Diamond Parking.

Hotels without elevators seems worse to me, but I understand the difficulty with several free-standing buildings.

No, some of the DVC resorts, and I *THINK* one building at POR, do NOT have elevators. There aren't many of them, but they do exist.

From what I understand the buildings that lack elevators are only 2 stories high. I know for sure that is true of CBR and the section of POR without elevators. Maybe that is why they are still ADA compliant.

This is correct.
"Unless your facility is less than three stories tall, or has fewer than 3,000 square feet per floor, your elevators must conform to the guidelines set forth by the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA)"
We do not take the tram and never really had any issues with our stroller(s) on the buses.
