How is internet / wifi on the ships nowadays?

hi,

We run our own business here in the uk and we r planning our 2019 vacation. We really wanna do a 4 night cruise on the dream, but historically it's usually Monday to Friday with the sea day being the Thursday. If we r at sea we would need to be able to access emails - is this possible?

It's been a couple of years since our last DCL just wondered how things have improved? Thanks

We were on the fantasy last week and purchased one of the wifi packages to be able to message our boys and check email. The wifi wasn't the best, but we could message and check email.

The wifi used up really quickly, even though we fixed the settings on our phone like the cast member told us to do.

Shippernet has improved, but it will almost always be slower and less reliable than land-based.

Especially on sea days where there are likely to be more people trying to use it.

It reminds me of internet from the late 1990s. I half expect to see a stack of AOL floppy disks at guest services to sign up for it.

I know the internet is not that great on the ships which is just another reason for me to unplug and enjoy my vacation/cruise. I know they are many personal or business reasons why people cannot totally unplug but there's something great about not cutting off those ties if only for a while.

I've always found the internet on the Dream to be really good. Considering we're in the middle of the ocean, I think the speed is fine.

its expensive and slow but its better then nothing. Ive used it numerous times for work.

We were on the Fantasy for 1 week starting 9/23. The internet worked on my cell phone much better than my laptop. Never figured that one out. Also, there are several settings that need to be done on both cell phone and laptop to keep data use as low as possible. I thought I had them all then ran out of data. A Cast Member showed me the other settings I forgot. FYI, all those settings have to be reversed when you get off the ship so things work right on land so remember what you did!
