I just called for 2 bedroom which was available on a cash basis, I'm, kinda low on point s Has anyone been there at this time? Is there anything at the resort for NYE. Are alot of restaurants still open? We always eat at Sea Shack we would hope it is open. This is a last minute decision and we could not get anything at Disney plus I'm low on points. Any help would be appreciated.

We love HHI for NYE! This will be our third year in a row going, it's become tradition to be at the last campfire for the outgoing year, and the first for the incoming. NYE night, they have kids' parties that are, I think, $25 each. The CM's (Rec Staff) are awesome, and my girls have gone the last 2 years, starting at ages 3 and 9. The parties start around 7, I think, they get pizza for dinner and do themed activities, and come away with a lot of stuff. Last year, DD 10 made a clock. The year before, it was a Mickey Mouse chess set. The little ones do lots of activities, too, and end the night with a movie that goes with the theme (Little Mermaid, Jungle Book, etc.) We dropped the kids off with our cell numbers, and DH and I went out for dinner, and then were back in PLENTY of time to pick them up at 11:30. There is a family party around the pool, everyone dancing, noise makers, etc, and even a small ball drop from the flagpole at midnight. It's over about 15 minutes afterwards, but lots and lots of fun. We've had 1 day both trips that we were able to swim, (water was warmer than air)! Temps were in the 60's most of the time, I think. We do stay in jeans, sweatshirts, most of the time.

I will say that HHI was the first time our youngest stayed with anyone other than her grandparents, and she had just turned 3 the first year- we were nervous wrecks. I wasn't sure if she would stay, but Rick (Rec mgr.) was awesome and said they would call the minute she got upset, and would refund us if she didn't stay long. The little one's party is in community hall, and I walked over 5 or 6 times to peek in the window. Last year, as I mentioned, we left the resort because we were so comfortable with the staff. The middle aged group goes over to the beach house for their party, they open the arcade games for them, too. They remembered our family, it feels like coming home!

As for restaurants, most of the places were open, only 1 that we checked was closed that week- Chef David's Roastfish and Cornbread. Pretty sure Sea Shack was open, also.

You make HHI at NYE sound like so much fun! That's one thing I'd love to do, spend NYE there. But for the present time we have elderly relatives who visit then, so we "settle" for Thanksgiving. Actually sometime I wish we could stay from Thanksgiving straight through to New Year's.
