I am renting a house this summer at the Wyndham and a friend that will be staying with us wanted to know from some one who stayed at Wyndham Palms a few questions. Last year we stayed in a hotel near off I-Drive. :bounce: Once you get to the highway, Disney is no where from our hotel, but the street the hotel was on I think Sand lake was extremely busy. It took us 10 minutes to get to the highway.

Is Wyndham Palms really 3 miles away?

Is this a busy traffic area (like I-Drive)? :hyper:

Is there a 24 hour Walmart Supercenter near by (I plan to Gift Cards to preplan for groceries, snack, and nick nacks?:teeth:

Thanks in advance for time and have a Wonderful Disney Day!:sunny:

My family, DH, DS & DD stayed at Wyndham Palms last August for 5 nights. We stayed in a two bedroom villa which was huge and beautiful. The only restaurant is too expensive so we ate breakfast up the road (out of hotel make left and go to busy intersection - unfortunately my memory is going and I am not sure of the street). Anyway, there is a Ponderosa and a few inexpensive restaurants. Also you would make a left on that street and go a few blocks (again, my memory and my husbands?) and make a right and you are right in DisneyWorld (some back entrance). Literally a 5 minute drive. It is convenient to all. We were in building 20 with a pool right in front of us which was great. You absolutely positively need a car, but all is near and we enjoyed it very much. We had a fabulous rate of $89 for the two bedroom.

You will love it and everything is really close.

Sorry I do not remember the street name or number.

We stayed at the Wyndham Palms in July and it really is a five minute drive to WDW. We turned left out of the complex and then right on 192 and followed the signs - it was quick. We ate breakfast at Perkins which is on 192 very near the road that leads to the Wyndham Palms.

It was very easy to get back and forth to WDW from the Wyndham Palms.

Have fun!

We stayed there earlier this month and YES it is a wonderful drive to Disney. I think there were only 1 or 2 traffic lights. It is 5 mins to the gate. When we left at 5:00 pm one day, we had to wait a while to turn left out of the complex. It looked like a lot of locals cut through there. We ate at Bob Evans for breakfast and enjoyed it. I am not sure where the nearest Wal-Mart was. We drove down 192 for a while one night and did not find one. There is a grocery pretty close, but it closed early.

WDW property is very very close and if you avoid the highway by taking a right at the 4 stop sign (dirt road), then a left at the next intersection and sraight across 192, it's easy at any time of day. We only took this short cut in the AM to avoid the lights on 192, but it really isn't necessary at any time of day.

Walmart, however, is not at all close! It's possible there is a local who could tell you differently, but the one on 192 is rather difficult to get to. Lots of traffic at all times of day on the road and lots of people at the store. We still went there twice, but it was a pain in the neck!! Just plan on spending a lot of time travelling and shopping.

The grocery store near by was okay, but the prices aren't great. I think they are a Publix but without the discount card??

We like the Publix near downtown disney, a little past the crossroads shopping center. It's fairly new and has good prices. Not too bad to get to. There are a couple of routes you can take.

We were at Wyndham Palms over the Thanksgiving holiday. Great place, and yes very close to DW. Re: stores: Publix is 5ish minutes on 192. Cannot remember east vs west, but take a left onto 192 from Wyndham Palms, 5 minutes down is Publix. For "box stores", take a right onto 192.....maybe 15-20 minutes down you will find Walmart, Target, and just about all you need. There is a Nike store as well, check it out....I made some great buys there.

Sherbeth Road is very close once you get out onto the hwy. Just stay on that road and it will bring you right onto WDW property near AKL and follow signs to whatever park you want. If you not sure how to get to Sherbeth Road from the Wyndham, just ask someone who works there. We used this route everyday and it was much quicker than driving all the way around to the main entrance.
