I never hear much about this show and am wondering how it is? We aren't going to have much time at AK I don't think...is this a really good show...worth taking some extra time out for? Festival of the Lion King is one of my very favorite things in Disney World, don't know if I want to see it twice or just once to make time for Flights of Wonder.

I saw this show in March as my DD does a similar ( and much shorter) show at our local zoo. She really wanted to see it. We had a short wait as we got there just as they were seating for the next show. It was cute, really well done, and the birds are well trained. If you are a true bird fan I think you should make time, if not, you may want to skip it.

Went to the show last May. I wasn't expecting much and I was pleasently surprised on how enjoyable it was. In my opinion it is not worth a repeat visit like the Lion King Festival (which I was VERY surprised how enjoyable it was) but I think you should see it once and you will probably enjoy it.

we love it;
if going in heat of day sit under one of the large fans

We go to WDW yearly and this is one of our 'must do' things. The story line has changes slightly over the years and the 'performers' are basically the same, but it always seems fresh and interesting to us. I do note that the parrot that sings 'Yankee Doodle Dandy' wasn't in the Jan 2005 show we saw. I hope it just because he's in a good union and had the day off.

I'm not much of a bird lover, but I have to admit this show is pretty fun to watch. I recommend it. It's pretty short, so it's not like you'd be there too long if you find it boring.

Mr Yankee Doodle Dandy was in the show I saw 4 weeks ago... he was amazing!
He did another song too but i don't remember what it was.
My DD would love to work Flights of Wonder!

We stumbled across this one last year and hadn't heard anything about it. It was great and a very welcome rest from the hustle and bustle. would definately recommend it

Ok, well if they've got a bird that sings Yankee Doodle, then we gotta go see it! LOL! I think my DN will enjoy it and maybe we can still squeeze in two FOTLK shows!

Side Note:

Hey, Bill haven't seen you on the boards in awhile! :wave2:
Where is the new siggy picture you promised us from your last trip?

This is one of my 11 year old son's favourite shows. Last time we were there, he got to throw a grape up in the air for one of the birds to catch. It was the highlight of his trip!

We saw this last August and found it entertaining for both young children and adults. While I would not wait in line for a long time to see the show, you can always just show up 5 minutes before show time and see if they still have seats. This show is usually not packed.

The show is actually amazingly similar to the bird show at our local Milwaukee Zoo. Several of the tricks and funny parts are identical except for slightly different bird species.

Hi, Lisa,

I've been a lazy lurker since we returned in Jan. I've got a few good pics of the two of us, in the R&C naturally, I've just got to see which one she likes and get it up. Next week marks the 330 day point 'til our next trip, which means I can book our flight, which means I'll be spending al lot more time here. Once I've got the plane tix, the trip is 'real'!

perdidobay,

Thanks for the news on the parrot. I was concerned that maybe one of the birds of prey made a lunch of him.

We love the show. It is somewhat different from other bird shows in that the birds only perform "natural" behaviors. It's a lot of fun

Mark, that is because most zoos do a version of the show. Steve Martin who owns natural Encounters does these shows all over the country for different places. This info is from my DD who does a Bird show at her Zoo. If you want to hear the Parrott and how well he can sing, just hit the About the staff link on the left and then click on the photo of Steve and Groucho.

He did another song too but i don't remember what it was.

when we were there he sang Yankee Doodle, but also sang I Left My Heart in San Francisco. it was a hoot.

We had always skipped this show either because of disinterest or not knowing it was there. We decided to sit in one day as the show was just about to start. We loved it! We exited it questioning why we had skipped it so many times. If a ride/show/attraction is good, DH and i have this stupid little thing we say to each other as we exit...."Now that's some quality Disney entertainment right there." (think larry the cable guy's accent) Flights of Wonder warranted one of those from us.

Another thumbs up from me, I'm not into animal shows really but was surprised how good it was too particulaty for a 'minor' show.

Palu.

I'm pretty sure we've heard him sing 'Daisy' also.

Me and my girlfriend, at the time, saw this show when we were about 22. We both loved it and I would suggest seeing it.

We also love it and were pleasantly surprised. Not expecting much and wound up loving it. DH was a volunteer at one point and went up on 'stage'.... :)

LOL because the only thing I know about this show is that they moved the doves from Beauty and the beast over there(or was it the Pocahontas thing?)Seems the hawks got used to the release time at MGM and would swoop on in for a quick easy scheduled meal! :rotfl2: I guess they thought they had a ps for the show!
