How is Easter at the resorts??

We are looking at returning to WDW in the spring. Possibly near Easter. The only time we have been to WDW is in July so we are wondering about weather, crowds, ect at the resorts and at the parks.

Two years ago we travelled to WDW during Easter. Never again! The parks were packed, crowds were unbelieveable, and the lines were impossible. A few times the parks would be closed due to overcrowding. If you were a resort guest, you could get in but if you were staying off-site, you were out of various parks. Since that time we have made our vacation plans in November.

"It's a Mad Mad Mad Mad World." The crowds are huge, the lines are long and the heat and humidity are out in force. I would not recommend an Easter trip.

The weather should be pleasant (maybe a bit more rain than the 'best' time of the year).

The resorts will be very expensive - from mid-Feb until mid-April is "PEAK" season which translates into 50% more expensive than Value season.

The crowds will be heavy (which is why it's PEAK season :-).

A good book to check out is 'The Unofficial Guide to WDW'. They have all the info you need, including a graph with the number of folks you can expect to see in the parks.

Thank you all!!!

We will definitely avoid Easter for our trip. How about after Easter say mid April. I looked at the WDW info for 2005 and that time is considered regular.

We lucked out during 2004 with the extended value season at the deluxe. To bad they changed this!

In Massachusetts our kids spring break is always the third week in April. It is based on a local hoilday called Patriots Day. So that is when we have made our last three trips to Florida. Sometimes this overlaps with Easter, sometimes like this past April it does not. This past year our break was considered the regular season for the resorts, so we got a good rate. But it was still quite crowded. Seemed like all of New England was there. But using the EMH and fastpass and good planning, we did not wait in many lines, did everything we wanted, hit all the parks and had a good time. The weather this time of year is great. We have never had a day of rain in the last 3 trips there. A few times it has been a bit cooler than I would have wanted, only in the 70's, but generally is nice and warm. The only bad part was that the parks closed earlier than they had the week before we got there. The MK closed for grad nights a few days and for a private party one night. On those nights everything else that was still open got packed, especially DTD. Other than that I think it is a good time to go.

With Easter in March, mid to late April shouldn't be crowded. We love WDW in mid-April. The weather is usually mild, little rain, & evenings pleasant. Epcot's Flower & Garden Festival starts April 15th in 2005, so that's another reason to go then!

We had a WONDERFUL time this past Easter! We got up early, used fast pass, came back mid day for naps and swimming and then went back... The longest line we waited in was 20 minutes in the singles line of Test Track (we missed all of the fast passes!)
We also avoided the MK on Easter (MGM was dead!)

We also went in '02 at Easter and it was very crowded. We had only been in off-season but since DS was school age, we had to go during spring break. Me, not knowing anything about anything back then, did not know that the week going into Easter is the busiest. Don't know if we will ever go back at that time again. Our spring break runs into Easter again in '05. Maybe we'll just head south to the beach! But we'll have AP's so we can come and go to the parks as we please. Early May or the very end of May are not crowded and we also like October.
