How is Disney's mini golf?

Hello all,

DH and I will be in the LBV area for a wedding later this month, and were thinking about (finally) checking out Disney's mini golf options. In our passed Disney trips, we just never got around to visiting the mini golf courses, but we like the idea of trying something new at WDW. I've got a few questions for anyone who would like to add their two cents!

1) Is Fantasia Gardens or Winter Summerland the funner course?

2) What's the best way to get there? We've got a rental car and no hotel reservations. We're also not planning on going to the parks on our mini golf day.

3) For those who have gone, did you find that it was worth your vacation time?

1 We love fantasia gardens . they have two courses a fun one with the Disney theme and a very challenging one that i have not seen anywhere else !
2 took a cab from our resort but with a rental car should be no problem.
3 We do it every trip at least twice .. We love to mini golf

Can you pay to play using a credit card-linked Magic Band?

Never tried the Fantasia Gardens course, however we have enjoyed both courses at Winter Summerland.

I love Winter Summerland! The theming is a lot of fun (a little surprise with the snowman ) The only drawback is it was hard to get a buss back to your hotel if you're there past 5 PM since it shares a bus stop with Typhoon Lagoon. We actually had to find a cast member to radio a van to come pick us up! But they were more than accomodating to help us out. Fantasia Gardens is great, but very challenging! Both are great and have the Disney magic away from the business of the parks. I definitely recommend both. Just depends if you want more "fun" or more "challenge".

Our preference has been the Winter Summerland course but the Fantasia gardens one is very nice too. If you booked a package -- check to see if you are given a free game per person. We just had a short trip and 1 game each was included with the package -- but we had no time to do it. The hard course as Fantasia gardens might not be the most fun.....it REALLY is challenging.

How is parking near Fantasia/Winter Summerland? Do we have to park at Blizzard Beach/S&D?

We played Winter Summerland a few years ago with our family, including 2 kids under the age of 13, and it was fun. It's a nice way to spend a few hours if you're not visiting on a park day.

I've played both courses several times. Fantasia Gardens is my personal favorite, but it has more to do with memories than the actual course. Winter Summerland is just as well themed and may be a little more little kid friendly. The hard side of Fantasia Gardens is great if you have serious golfers. The traditional mini golf side is beautiful-for a mini golf course.

Fantasia Gardens has its own parking lot near the Swan/Dolphin. You can see the course from the road and it's not hard to find the parking lot from there. I think you just park at Blizzard Beach to go to Winter Summerland but they may have a smaller lot within the big lot. It has been a while, so I can't quite remember.

We much prefer Winter/Summerland. The Winter course is our favorite. The holes are fairly easy and have lots of Disney characters and puns based around snow. There is classic "rock and roll" Christmas songs playing. The Summer Course is based on sand and is basically the same level of easy. There's Beach Boys Christmas music playing there. At the entrance, you hear both, which is a total cacophony lol.

We love to sing, dance and play. On our last trip, we went right after a terrible rainstorm and were the only ones on the course. Needless to say we let it all hang out and had a blast - one of our favorite Disney memories. W/S has it's own parking lot, or you can park in the Blizzard Beach lot and walk over.

Fantasia Gardens is beautiful, the holes are made mostly of concrete, stone and landscaping. The holes are a bit harder and it seems much less shaded so it's hotter in the sunshine. Their lot is across the road from the S/D entrance. When you turn in, you go left for Fantasia Gardens.

We love Fantasia Gardens. Winter Summerland is also fun. Totally worth taking out vacation time.

So I am thinking we will use one of our WP&M passes for a game of mini-golf. We are a family of 5. How long should we plan on a round taking? 60-90min? I was planning on hitting W/S course after Blizzard Beach but before our 5:30 dinner at Sanaa and want to make sure we leave the water park with plenty of time. Alternatively, I was thinking of hitting the Fantasia course before an ADR at Beaches and Cream and want to make sure we have enough time. With the WP&M option you have to use the pass before 4:00pm so going after of lunch won't be possible.

1 - For "fun" - Winter Summerland. My husband, myself and our son have played all four courses and we know how to play miniature golf. For Winter Summerland, I came in last and was 14 above par so it was fun. Fantasia Gardens is more challenging so less "fun". We did OK but competed against each other. Fantasia Fairways, we threw the scorecard out after the first six holes because we had maxed out just about every hold. But we still laughed a lot about how badly we were playing.

2 - you can drive and park for free at either course.

Who knew Fantasia Gardens would be so challenging! I am terrible at mini golf - I guess the question for me is "how badly do I want to lose against DH"!

I was planning on doing Fantasia Gardens but got a pass that doesn't list that as being included, just Winter Summerland. Unless I'm mistaken. My then-5 year old will be playing for the first time, so it sounds like maybe Summerland is better if FG is hard. Not that any of us are any good! Anybody know of a time of day it's busier vs slower? If transportation is tricky in the evening, does that make it slower then?
