Hi all! Just a question. How is it in August? We usually go in June but aren't able to go untill the second week of July or in Aug. Is it that much hotter in Aug. than it is in June? Are the hurricanes a problem? We always have those little rain showers in the afternoons in June so we are used to these. What to you all think? What would you do? thanks, Tink :goodvibes

We are also going in Aug. for the first time(22-29). I really do not think that there is a real weather difference between July and Aug. In my mind hot is hot and statistically Aug. gets a little less rain. I heard that crowd levels the first two weeks of Aug. are pretty bad, but go down the closer you get to labor day. As for the the dreaded "H" word you mentioned in your post, bite your tongue and go knock on some wood. This is a a discussion board for all things Disney, how dare you use that kind of language :rotfl2:

We go quite often the later part of August. The later you go in August, the lighter the crowds become. Yes, it is just as hot (I think) as late June, but we hit the parks early and then hang out at our resort by mid afternoon, then go back to the parks in the evening. Basically the same strategy we have used in late June.

Crowded, hot, crowded, but hey...it's WDW :dumbo: :goofy: :hmghost: :smickey: Do your homework and take advantage of early hours, late nights, and the resort pool. :earsboy:

I'm wondering if folks have changed ressies for August to later in the month to get free dining...that would make early August a bit better for folks.

Just curious...heard a lot of people talking about changing their ressies when the announcement came out earlier, so I wonder how many actually did...

I have read that not everyone who is going to Disney knows anything about the free dining plan promotion, that not everyone does internet searches, DIS or other Disney. Really, if you think about it, it just seems like a lot of persons are adding to or changing their plans to take advantage of the dining plan. The number that have changed, either on this site or others is a small minority. My family's going to be at Disney in August. We booked our trip last November through a local TA. When I read about the free dining plan, I called our TA and asked her if we would be eligible for it. She did some checking. She said in order for us to get the dining, we would have to cancel our exsisting plans (except the air portion) and rebook the trip, which would include paying the rack rate for the room. We decided against it, to keep the exsisting plans we already had.

The first half is hot, humid and crowded. The last half is hot, humid and not as crowded.

Having said that, I do prefer August to July.
