How is Chef Mickey's for any meal besides breakfast?

We've been the CM for breakfast and it was fairly cool, but I am trying to find a special meal experience for ds (almost ten yo) and he mentioned chef mickey's. I don't want to do breakfast there since we've done it before and there are other breakfast places I want to try this time, but is CM lunch or dinner food good? Any other suggestions for a cool place to eat for a ten year old boy?

We have done dinner at Chef Mickey's and didn't really care for it, so now we only eat there for breakfast. :goodvibes

We went last summer for dinner and really enjoyed ourselves. It is definitely on our "to do" list for our next trip (hopefully) in 2009.

I've done dinner & breakfast.
Stick w/ breakfast!:thumbsup2

We've only ever been there for dinner. And we've gone multiple times. We really enjoy it. It's not the greatest food, but it's good enough that we keep going back. Don't forget to try the mashed potatoes!!

The DH and I have eaten there for dinner on both of our trips. I'll be honest here...the experience was wonderful, but the food was just so-so. There just wasn't that much that I really cared for besides the mashed potatoes. I think we are going to try it for breakfast on our next trip.

Chef Mickeys is one of our favorites and go every trip for dinner. My ds has celebrated several birthdays there and this year my niece and husbands birthday is on the same day and we will be there for their birthday. A few of my favorites there. Peel and eat shrimp, the salad, tomato and mozzerella, mickey shaped ravioli (my fav of all) and the desserts.

We love the interaction with the characters. I would much rather sit down and eat dinner and have the characters come to us over standing in line and waiting to be rushed through taking pictures.

Just my opinion.

Diane

We did dinner there once, the character interaction was awesome but the food was terrible

We do dinner at Chef Mickeys for the first night on every trip. It is no Le Cellier, or Yachtsman, or big restaurants like that but my family, of very picky eaters, really love it. And the mashed potatoes are heavenly!

We  Chef Mickey's!!! We usually do a breakfast and a dinner every trip and haven't had a bad meal there yet:thumbsup2

It was very expensive mashed potatoes.
That's about all my stomach could handle
the food was not very good, plus when we
were there kids were allowed to go up to the buffet and
touch everything on it--which really grossed me out.
I was so thankful that we were there for FD because
I wouldn't have wanted to pay $104.00 (bill total--nothing extra-
just the buffet and 3 sodas) for 3 people to eat
there for dinner--Me, DH and DS (11 years). I thought that
it was not worth that amount of money.

We really loved CM dinner when we went. DD12 requested it again for this year b/c she enjoyed the mashed potatoes but I just couldn't fit it into the schedule with all the restaurants we wanted to try this year so we are opting for breakfast on our last morning before we leave. While DD12 was a little disappointed about not getting the mashed potatoes, she wasn't willing to give up any of the other restaurants either. ;)

If you are open for a different suggestion for a 10 year old boy, you should do some research on Whispering Canyon. That seems right up a ten year old boy's alley, I would think.

We have done dinner there twice and had great food and a great experience both times! I say go for it!!:yay:

Dinner at CM's was my most disappointing meal out of 6 TS restaurants. I would stick with breakfast!

Good desserts. ok food. Great atmosphere, there's just something about being in the Contemporary. We have ressies for Sept, not expecting it to be the best meal but a good first night experience for the kids. I love Whispering Canyon too as another poster suggested.

We did dinner and I really didn't care for it. The characters were great, but the service and food wasn't.

First of all, we arrived a bit late after getting lost and the CM at the check in podium was not very nice to us because they wanted to hurry up and close. Our ADR was for 9:10. (We arrived at 9:20)

Then the server we had told us we probably wouldn't see any characters because we were late and they were leaving soon with a huge attitude. This wasn't a big deal and we understood.....but why be so rude. (We met all the characters anyway)

Finally, the food was limited with only a few choices. Some was good, but nothing memorable.

We will return as I believe if we got there earlier, it might have been a better experience.

We had always done dinner at CM's and then this past visit in November we decided to try breakfast (since we were staying there we figured why not) and we decided we prefer breakfast. We would go to dinner there again (it wasn't way bad or anything), but we did think the breakfast food was better.
