Another restaurant question: Is Chef Mickey's buffet good, or is it more about the "character experience"? Can anyone give me some examples of the food?
TIA Terri.
sorry, I have the menu from allears, but I'd like to know if the food is GOOD? Thanks.

DH and I enjoyed it. The food was pretty good and there were plenty of choices too. I love the cheese blintzs. With strawberry sauce yum!!!! :goodvibes

My family (kids are 5,4 and 2) and I went to Chef Mickey's breakfast last week Monday. It was great! They had all the standard breakfast food that you would expect from a breakfast buffet. The french toast and little Mickey waffles were favorites of the kids. They had a cold section that had a nice selection of fruits, yogurts and other items. Everyone loved the dessert section - there was something for everyone.

The characters were great. The kids met Goofy, Mickey, Minnie, Pluto, Chip and Dale. We went to four different character meals during our trip. I noticed that the characters always worked the room in a pattern so that no table was skipped over for a visit. I have read from other posters that they were upset with their character meetings. I truly believe that the characters make their best efforts to meet everyone. In fact, out of the four character meals that we had, about half of the characters made their way to our table twice. This was certainly the case at Chef Mickey's. Our character interaction was great - lots of pictures and autographs.

Chef Mickey's food was not good at all when we ate there last spring for dinner. We tried almost everything, and it was all lacking in flavor and temperature... yuck!

Have had breakfast there in the past and it was pretty good, but dinner is awful. Went once for dinner and never again. Worst meal I've ever had on Disney property.

We have never done dinner there, but it is one of our most favorite breakfasts on property!

We've done dinner there on 4 seperate trips and enjoyed the food. My DD loves the kids section on the buffet. We also had breakfast once and enjoyed it too! :wave2:

I personally think the atmosphere is better than the food - lol! I am only speaking of breakfast but it's typical buffet style food. There were some hot dish caseroles, mickey waffles, cereal, cold items and such. It's really nothing to "knock" your socks off but it's good and combined with the atmosphere, it's an excellent place to have breakfast. (Sorry I can't comment on dinner!)

We went for breakfast and really enjoyed it. The food was fresh (or it just seemed that way) and tasty. There was your normal fare as well as some yummy new things.....Goofy lasagna, breakfast pizza and cheesy potatoes. And of course Mickey waffles, mmmmm. The character interaction was great. Couldn't have asked for better. I was told it had to do with our seating time though....we went to the last breakfast seating. Place was near empty and the sweetpea had the characters to herself.

Breakfast always get decent reviews....kind of hard to screw up bacon, scambled eggs, and pankakes.

Dinner always gets mixed revies at best.

I have done the breakfast a bunch of times and always been very happy with the amount of charecter interaction and quality of food.

Thanks for the tips, we're booked there for dinner, but I'm having a re-think.

22 days till disney.....

I think for breakfast, the food is actually quite good, but clearly your are going there and paying for the atmosphere and characters. I can say taht I've never had a bad meal there, both food-wise as well as for the entertainment and experience.

We thought it was pretty good. Lots of shrimp, parmesan mashed potatoes...YUM! It really is about the experience, but we were pleasantly surprised by the food. My kids LOVED it. (Mickey-shaped ravioli were their favorite!)

We went there in October for Dinner. It was our favorite experience of the whole trip. We had a 5 pm adr so all the food was very fresh. The characters were great, the food was plentiful and good. While there were no dishes that I would write home about, it was good food with a great atmosphere. DS had a blast. I will definitely go again.

We had lunch at the crystal palace the next day for lunch and we noticed some of the side items were the same at both places. I cant remember specifically what it was, but it was something my dh enjoyed at both restaurants. We thought the character interaction was better at CM than the palace, but our service was great at both.

Hope that helps you!

We thought the food was pretty good. Not the best in WDW but who can resist the mickey shaped ravioli, and parmesan mashed potatoes?

The atmosphere is so much fun!!!

The dinner buffet is comparable to a college cafeteria. The breakfast buffet is semi-disgusting, unless you like all your breakfast foods luke-warm. Buffet food that isn't hot is a real turn-off for me.

Chef Mickeys food is somewhat sub-standard Disney buffet food. There are buffets at Disney that serve better food, but none that can out-do CMs for mediocrity.

Funny, DH thought it was one of our better dinner meals and we also ate at California Grill, MM, Le Cellier, The Castle, but he is a meat and potato kind of guy.

We enjoy Chef Mickey's every time we eat there.

We had the breakfast last May. It was YUMMY. DH was cracking up because there was a kid asking his mom "what's that?" while pointing to the gravy. His mom said "oh, that's grits. It's a southern thing." DH said "that's not grits! It's GRAVY!!!"
DH is from Kentucky, he couldn't believe the woman didn't know what gravy was. They have gravy up north, don't they? LOL

We just ate at Chef Mickeys last week. It was great as always!! It is one of the best things we do on our trip every year. The food is basic buffet food, so if you are looking for anything "different" this is not the place to go. The Prime Rib they had out was a little overdone and we asked if they could get some more and they had no problems getting another one, which was delicious. I love the Mickey raviolis. Everything else is basic but usually very good.
The character interaction is always SO much fun!! We actually closed the place at arounf 11pm and we had all the characters sitting with us and we were playing around with them. There were 5 of us, 5 adults, we were all like 8 year old children, it was FUN!!!
