Oh I will have to do a search & see what everyone is saying, I was planning on trying it out on our visit in Oct. Glad I seen these posts, guess I better pick another place at DTD for table service. What about Planet Hollywood?
well, if i was gonna eat at downtown disney, i would look into portabello yacht club, house of blues, wolfgang puck express or even rainforest cafe or earl of sandwich. portabello yacht club is ltalian and very yummy!
Thanks disney queen! Unfortunatley Portabello Yacht is not on the dining plan, bummer. I have eaten at Earl Of Sandwich a couple of times & it is very yummy I have Wolfgang Puck Express down for a Lunch, so maybe we will try Planet Hollywood as well.

Well this thread is confusing to me. We just returned from our 10 day trip, on dining plan and atleast one table service at a different restaurant each day (sometimes 2 in one day) and our last full day was the 22nd and we ended up at DTD instead of where we'd planned (because of rain ALL day instead of just a few hours- so we bypassed our plans to go to MK that day) and we cancelled our PS for dinner and instead went to Capt. Jacks at DTD.
I honestly wish we'd gone there more often during this trip! We did a lot of character meals (ie: buffets) and while the character interaction was great- the food left much to be desired. I found myself wishing we'd ate at Movies food court- now if that isn't a bad review of the buffets I don't know what is. LOL But at Capt. Jacks we used the dining plan and since my oldest had to pay as adult on the dining plan- both her and I had lobster. It was delicious and even the other kids' meals were great- ditto on the appetizers and desserts! It ended up being one of the most expensive meals on the "ticket" (but we used dining plan to actually pay for it ofcourse) and was the one meal we REALLY felt was worth the money!
I'm surprised so many people dislike it. I wonder if it's because they didn't get lobster dinners or the more expensive meals, appetizers and desserts like we did on the dining plan? LOL

When we dined here in February of 2004 after an hour wait (which we didn't mind), we knew we were in for it when our waitress whispered, "Stick with a ppetizers tonight." We should have followed my advice. Our food was cold, indinfferently prepared. My shrimp pasta looked like it was dredged from Lake Buena Vista. We did leave her a nice tip.
It's such a shame. It's the oldest Disney-run restaurant in DTD and has such a nice view of the lake.
bumping in for more comments. I wonder if they changed Chef's since the bad reviews are everywhere. It seems many people lately have been saying it is good.
I have been twice. Once many years ago when there wasnt really very much on the menu so we didnt go back for a long time. I went back 2 summers ago in late August. We walked right in for an early dinner (around 6) I had stuffed flounder that came with rice and sugar snap peas and a salad. I thouroughly enjoyed everything. The rice was just allright but hey, it's rice! Our waitress was great. Maybe we just hit a good night. I did like House of Blues better though. And we love Earl of Sandwich. Rain Forest Cafe is just allright for us. Not crazy about Planet Hollywood.
Skip Capt Jacks for sure, it is terrible and Planet Hollywood really isnt worth it when there are so many other choices for dining.
Portobello, Fultons, House of Blues, Wolfgang Puck, I could go on and on.
